The weather is a bit warm out, but Emma wanted to go ice skating…fortunately there's a suitable skating area just off the park, and so she takes the girls off to do this. She has not been skating in a long while, and who knows if Pris ever has - you know, being originally a Southern Belle. As for Catseye…seems dubious, but all the same, Emma is hoping to have some fun on the weekend.

Eyes of blue are bright, and she's dressed in a snug woolen coat with fuzzy cuffs and lapel, and a knit cap to match, ALL in white of course. "So…ice skating and hot chocolate, must have hot chocolate." Hey! The woman can have a moment to enjoy something from her youth, right?

—-

Having been wandering the area for some hours, Jonothon is out loitering at the skating rink. The police have actually been called on him once already, but since he really just wants to sit and watch the people, they let him do so. None of this history is oblivious however beyond a nasty look from a woman who's on the other side of the rink now. The skinny young man is wearing black, his head covered in a hoodie, his face covered in some black mask.. and he's so not dressed for the weather as he sits and looks through his phone.

—-

Catseye did actually go skating before… At the OldSchool, mainly because some of the other students thought it would be funny to see her fall down. Which she did surprisingly little, and 'accidentally' grabbed on to the ones laughing and pulled them down too. Good memories, by her standards at least. "Better at drinking hot chocolate than ice skating, but will try not to fall down too much." She is dressed in her usual purple and black, the coat mostly hiding her tail.

Spotting Jonothan she waves in a friendly manner. "Hihi. Jonothan, good to see you again."

—-

Priscilla has never been ice skating. She has been roller skating, it is true. But ice? No, nada. Her own outfit is not quite as monochromatic, with a black leather biker's jacket with purple accents, and faded blue jeans with beads and sequins worked into them Very colorful. Instead of a hat, she wears a pair of purple ear muffs and a purple scarf with a coiled emerald green dragon along its length.

"Anything chocolate sounds good to me. I wouldn't mind warm, that's for sure." Pris answers her mother with an impish grin. She and Catseye have Emma bracketed, one on either side; her daughters still aren't quite ready to let her out alone at this point. She glances towards the young man Sharon has recognized. "Someone you know, obviously." she murmurs.

—-

"I love ice skating." Emma declares to both her (adopted) daughters. "And with your sheer physical talents I'll be shocked if you don't skate circles about me in minutes, tops." She squeezes the held arms as her protective kids are protective, and leads the way in.

And then Cat is greeting a somewhat dodgy looking young man, Emma blinks as she tracks to the young man Cat is greeting, and then she /blinks/. "My god, he's Omega level." A moment to let the shock pass, and there's no doubt that Pris will sense that shock and surprise. Still, Cat is greeting the young man in a friendly fashion…

She smiles briefly, patrician features friendly enough.

"Care to introduce your friend?"

—-

His name draws his attention. Mostly because he was not expecting to meet someone he knew out here. Looking up and over, there's a bit of surprise. Oh! It's the lavender girl. Er, cat. Cat in the shape of a girl? Jonothon lifts a hand in greeting, trying to be polite. He doesn't try to greet at this distance due to personal uncertainties, but he does seem as friendly as a teen without half of his face can.

—-

Catseye leads her family over closer to Jono. "Is a student at Catseye's previous school." Which means the Institute, if she meant Hellfire Academy she would have said OldSchool. Despite her and Jono's obvious mutant nature, she's not so crass as to name the Institute in public. Her first days as a smoothskin were under the burden of the Registration Act, and those patterns are ingrained.

"Jonothon, this is mother, EmmaFrost, and sister Priscilla." It is very hard for her not to call them MotherMotherFrost and PrissyKitten, but she manages! Catseye's trying very hard to act normal, even if pronouns are still giving her problems.

—-

Priscilla feels Emma's shock, even if she doesn't fully comprehend the reasons for it. What she does pick up is that Catseye has good feelings about this young man … and that he is rather uncertain, but not unfriendly. Hooray for the empath. She finds his look curious, but she's not yet sure what to make of it. Instead, she just follows Catseye's lead, and offers a nod and a warm, welcoming smile when she is named. "Hello." she offers in a warm, rich voice with a noticeable southern, Cajun-tinged accent. "Good to meet you." She releases Emma's arm to extend her right hand in welcome, complete with her purple-accented black gloves. "I applaud the scarf." she murmurs as well.

—-

Once they get closer, Emma can't help but study the young man's MASSIVE psionic presence, and is bewildered once again at his utter lack of protection from the outside. "A pleasure, Jonothon." She murmurs, and then will also offer a hand, once he's had a chance to shake Pris's. It is very true that Cat clearly feels no distrust of him, and that's a stronger recommendation than just about anything for Emma. That Pris is calm too, helps reinforce that. EITHER girl's senses are, in very different ways, excellent judges of character. To have both them concur? About as solid an endorsement as he could get.

She smiles. "We were going to do some ice skating and perhaps drink some hot chocolate, would you care to join us?"

—-

Jonothon notes that.. previous school. Interesting. He blacks the screen of his phone and tucks it away before shaking Pris' hand. Even out here in this cold, with no gloves on, he's a normal temperature to the touch. His dark eyes smile a little, crinkling at the edges, and again he nods. Then it's Emma's turn. A polite shake of hand, but then he hesitates. The offer is kind, and it's not the company he has issue with. « ..I'm sorry, ma'am, but I can't do either of those things. » His accent is actually British, and since he kind of mentally tosses words out there without touching minds, someone might not even hear them depending on abilities. « But thank you. »

—-

Catseye nudges Jono. "But company is nice. And if noseyparkers want to glare, will have to spread the glares around all four, yes?" Yes, she noticed the woman across the rink giving Jono a nasty look. Threat risk minimal, but not ignored. NEVER ignored. She understands what Emma means by Omega level mutant, even if Pris doesn't, and … is unbothered by it. Her experiences may have slightly skewed her judgement of threats.

Catseye plops down next to Jono, dropping her purple backpack and pulling out a set of black ice skates with purple glitter laces. She asks Jono, "Mind watching backpack while Catseye skates?" She grins, "Was just going to wear it, but only skated once before. Would rather not have anything to adjust balance for."

—-

Well, isn't that interesting? He sends out telepathic speech. Priscilla smiles and turns to sit down beside Jonothon on the other side, pulling the white skates with matching purple glitter laces off her shoulder, untying the knot that binds their laces together. "If you do mind, it's OK. I'm sure we can manage. But the company is welcome, even so." She could respond telepathically, but they're here to be sociable and that to her means using her voice. Pris starts unzipping her boots to slide them off before working on putting on and lacing up the skates. "Good thing I have plenty of padding." she comments wryly to her sister. She expects to end up on her bum a few times here.

—-

"Oh? A pity, Jonothon." Emma smiles as she sees his expressive eyes, the smile crinkles eloquent, possibly even elegant. She definitely hears the mind words, her low level shields might well have blocked the emanations were she not actively scanning about them and specifically studying his aura.

When Cat and Pris both settle into the seats by him, she laughs softly and joins the girls by the lanky teen. "Well, it seems you're stuck with our company, hopefully it will not prove too onerous." Emma's skates are white, of course, and the laces also glitter but like diamonds or frost rime.

A wry look to Pris. "I am sure you will do just fine, padding or not. And Catseye can cheat - her tail will be something we all envy afore long."

—-

He's penned in! Help! Jonothon looks between the two, but certainly doesn't mind bag watching. That he can do! « I will. I don't mind. » There's another eye smile about the woman. « She's barmy. » Dismissive and rude at the best of it. « Had the bobbies out on me. They listened though. » The police were reasonable at least. For Emma, he shrugs a little, but doesn't explain. The truth is that he's afraid to skate because he might literally explode. That would be bad. He'll enjoy being in the company of some beautiful ladies and watch bags. That's totally his speed right now.

—-

Catseye puts her black doc martens (Also with purple laces, and yes, she knows about the meaning in the punk scene) in her backpack and gets on the skates. "Tail is -not- cheating, was born with it." Her eyes get an impish sparkle. "And if not cheating, not trying." She takes off her black duster, leaving her in black jeans and purple sweater with lavender snowflakes, and leaves the coat with Jono as well before awkwardly stomping towards the rink. She's a lot more graceful once she's actually on the ice.

—-

"Well, I could try a tail, Mother. But it's not instinctive like it is for Catseye, so I think I'll pass." Priscilla offers, smiling brightly at Emma and winking at Sharon. She rather agrees with the sentiment; if you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough. "Thank you for watching our things, Jonothon." She lays one gloved hand on his forearm, giving a squeeze, before she levers herself up to her feet and starts stomping towards the rink. However she's going to manage, she's going to give it her best. Hopefully those hyperreflexes and her awesome dancing balance will prove effective after some practice.

—-

Penned in! Truly, poor Jono must be in HELL to be caught with so much feminine pulchritude! Oh, the horror! Emma smiles with anticipation - she's up to something! Cat would know because she can smell it on her mom. Pris could /feel/ it. Either way, when she removes her jacket she'd prove to be in a sheer white top with poofy sleeves, but what is /striking/ is the white vest with /purple/ embroidery, yup, she's *gasp* NOT in all whites. For once. She too grips Jono's arm. "Thank you." And then she makes her way far less clunkily than her daughters to the ice. Now, Emma has not skated in a long time, that said, she did have some formal instruction, so she's actually fairly good, though nowhere near competition level. Rusty? Hell yes! But she improves rapidly after a few turns about the rink. Comfortable with a mental party line, she reaches out to Jono, Pris and Cat. «It has been far too long since I've done this. Brings back memories.»

—-

Get a tail? « Then I'd have to get all new pants. » Jonothon jokingly complains. There's a nod to Pris for her thank you, but otherwise he makes a good bench warmer with a coat over his lap. The teen is scruffy, but not actually dirty. More like he forgets aspects of his grooming. With coats and bags, he takes out his phone again. Until that comment. He jumps a little for it, still not used to such things. Decides not to reply though.

—-

Catseye is not a telepath, but Emma is used to linking or boosting her for telepathic conversations. «Good memories for Catseye too. And tail does make clothes shopping a pain in the ass.» She forms the words carefully, she tends to think without words unless talking or writing, so it is an extra effort, one she makes for the sake of conversation. «MotherMotherFrost is telepath, Jonothon. Same class as Xavier but… » The impression is of two artists, equally talented and skilled, but one paints in a romantic style, the other in hyperrealism. Words are hard! Skating is easier.

—-

«Were you planning on growing one, Jonothon?» A warm mental laugh. «Literally a pain, Sharon?» Emma almost always calls Cat 'Sharon', except on special occasions, and leap years - which this year /is/, though not today. Emma it might be noticed doesn't just skate about, she takes time to help her daughters master the fine art, and is actually -happy- when their incredible physical powers and advantages let them surpass her.

A warm sense of approval for Cat making the effort to speak normally. As they skate about, she sends out 'blips' to seek hostile intent every few moments, and though the barmy woman is still barmy, she doesn't actually intend harm, not as such.

—-

« Seriously? » Sarcasm about growing a tail. Of course he wasn't! The crazy woman sees Jonothon now has companions and realizes she's lost this chance. Drat it all! For his part, Jono admits, « I'm.. not used to it is all. » Yeah, a telepath not being used to it. Still, he is being honest. It's a good chance to practice though! Even if he honestly isn't thinking of it as such. This one doesn't like to practice his powers at all.

—-

Catseye chucklepurrs. «Have friends that can. Catseye can shift to furform, looks like huge purple lion. Mutations do all sorts of interesting things.» And it bothers her not at all! «Change takes getting used to. Catseye grew up Cat form. MotherMotherFrost helped Catseye shift to smoothskin again, taught language, how to be human. Since then… life has been constant change. Some good, some bad. But is life, yes?» It's obvious that Catseye adores her adopted mother. And… grew up a cat? It's a miracle she can talk at all! No wonder her grammar is slightly odd at times.

—-

«Not even a little.» Emma says with a wry twist to her mental speech. Truly, it is a very interesting to hear Emma's voice - it sounds just like her own, only without any of the distortion from the air, or any background noise in the environment, absolutely crystal clarity. Emma starts getting a little bolder out on the rink, her movements settling in as she dredges up memories from years ago. Not that that's all /that/ hard for a telepath of her power. «Truly? Fascinating.»

Emma is fair to flying about the rink now, clearly her middle really is 'Grace'. She does not hold a candle to either of her daughters however.

Emma is well aware of what a miracle Sharon is. It is obvious that the Frost family really is very fond of each other, which is nice to see.

—-

« I suppose. » Jonothon gives slowly. Not that Catseye is a bit wrong. More of that he wishes things were otherwise. But before he can reply further his phone bings. He blinks and looks down at it, working the screen. Then he motions a sigh. Not that he can actually sigh, but the gesture is there. « I have to go. » Actually feels disappointed as he types a reply. « It was good seeing you again, and in meeting you, Ma'am. » He will wait for someone to claim the bags, but then hurries off, texting an Uber for a ride back north to the institute.
