Central Park in the morning on a January day is cold, but when you are covered in fur, coat, hat, and scarf the bitter nip of the air is tolerable. Kurt knows, because that is what he is dressed in as he slogs though the winter morning towards one of the coffee stands that is brave enough to be open in this weather.

As he approaches the stand, he smiles a toothy smile towards the barista and orders a large coffee, "Cream, sugar, and a couple pumps of chocolate please."

Hey, when you spend a fair amount of your work hours in Jotunheim, a little New York winter isn't all that bad! At least that's what Dani thinks, as she's queues up in line right behind… "Hey, Mister Wagner! I didn't think I'd see you here."

Since, well, she hasn't really known Kurt that much, but she's still living at the Institute, even with university and everything else keeping her busy. Plus, he's kind of a hard figure to miss. Not that an Cheyenne Valkyrie has any room to talk, though right now she's dressed in a warm coat and jeans, along with practical boots for the snow.

Hearing his name, Kurt turns to look towards the voice. It takes him a slight moment to place the voice to the face before the features of the Native American woman register and he smiles.

"HA, Ms. Moonstar! I could say the same! This is quite a bit of distance from Westchester, what brings you out here?"

Kurt takes the coffee in his hands, letting the heat warm them for a bit before taking a tentative sip. "Oh, hot!" he exclaims as he starts to blow over the top.

Dani grins, "Oh, had some Embassy business I had to do this morning, typical really. I tend to bounce between here and Westchester a lot as it is…" She then grins and tells the barista, "Dark chocolate turtle mocha, as large as you can make it."

With that, she turns back towards Kurt, "Though I could ask the same about you. What has you out here on a morning like this?" She grins a bit, looking somewhat curious.

"I, uh…spent the night nearby." Kurt says with a roll of his shoulder in a shrug. "My girlfriend's studio isn't to far from here, and I woke up early so I figured I would take a nice stroll in the park. The smell of the coffee did the rest."

He shrugs again, taking another sip of the coffee as he uses his tail to scratch at an itch on his neck, "I didn't know you spent that much time at the Embassy. What is it you do there?"

Dani grins, "Oh, just the whole 'escorting the fallen of the battlefield' thing, mostly. Also, I got paid today, and they haven't quite figured out how to work direct deposit with gold coins." She chuckles a bit, as well, valkyries are employees, so of course they get paid something.

She then chuckles, "Ooh, girlfriend with a studio? What's she do? Mine's a rock star. Literally, that is." She grins cheerfully at that, looking more curious now at Kurt.

Kurt arches a brow, "You have an embassy….for that? I mean, how does that even work?"

The blue-furred mutant takes another sip, pointing down the way a bit. "Yeah, she is a blacksmith. Makes some pretty nice weaponry. So if you ever need a new sword or something, I know a gal." he says with a chuckle. "You're girlfriend is a rock star?"

Dani chuckles, "Yeah, up and coming anyway. Though she has a manager so I guess that's something. Keep busy so we don't see each other as much as I'd like, but…" She shrugs a little, then adds, "Well, yeah, the Asgardian Embassy? I'm a Valkyrie, I need to show up there sometimes too. It's still… well, it's all a bit weird to me still sometimes, but I love it."

Kurt Wagner rubs the back of his neck with his tail, "I mean, I get the job you have…I'm just trying to figure out how that works. Do people bring the bodies to the embassy, or do they show up there knowing they are going to die? But if they show up there, do they even get into Valhalla because don't you have to die in battle for that? Sorry, I'm not an expert in Nordic or Asgardian religion."

"So, who is this rock star of yours? Have I head anything she has done?"

Dani laughs harder, "Wow, no, nothing like that! I mean, sometimes Valkyries do special things that don't involve collecting the fallen. But sometimes they send a raven to ask us to do something, and we go ahead and do it. Though that would be a pretty big drop box if they had one at the Embassy…" Okay, she might be getting ideas now.

Then she shakes her head, "Alison? Oh, maybe, she's not really hit it that big yet, far as I know, but she's cool. One of us, too." So, you know, doubly cool.

Laughing, Kurt takes another sip from his coffee. "See, this is why I was confused! I mean, you did say you were doing Embassy business and escorting the fallen, so what was I to think?"

Kurt nods as Dani speaks of Alison, "Ah, Dazzler, yes? I have heard of her. I don't think I have met her, but I have heard of her."

Dani grins, "Yeah, that's her. She's super great." She laughs a little, "Though I'll keep your girlfriend in mind if I ever need something… but the dwarves are pretty good with forging things, so I don't really need much they can't get me." A slight chuckle, "The nice thing about having magic swords, I guess."

Letting out a bit of a chuckle, Kurt shrugs a shoulder. "I am sure the dwarves do a good job." Maybe not as good as an Angel, or maybe better. Who knows?

Kurt moves his coffee cup to his tail as it curls around it, and shoves his hands into his pockets. "So, aside from working at the Embassy and your famous girlfriend, what else have you been up to Ms. Moonstar? Classes going well? Need any help with anything?"

Dani shakes her head, "Oh, things are fine, I suppose. I mean, just started freshman year here at NYU with the pre-vet program, so that's going okay. Bit hard finding a balance between everything though, so sometimes… well, I think my blood might be twenty percent coffee by now."

Kurt Wagner nods. "I know that feeling." the fuzzy elf says with a laugh. "I've been spending a lot of time going back and forth between the City and Westchester…and not being able to port that far means I have to travel by car. It's time consuming. I can't imagine how busy you must be with everything else on top."

Dani chuckles, "Fortunately Brightwind flies very fast, but yeah, it's a bit crazy sometimes with my schedule. On the bright side, Ali and I don't have the time to get in each other's hair, so that's something I suppose? But still…" A bit of a shrug at that, then she grins at Kurt, "But yeah, you'd think Doctor McCoy or someone could just make a teleporter or something. I mean, come on."

"I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason Henry hasn't built one. Maybe he doesn't want to steal my thunder or something." Kurt says with a laugh. "But maybe if he built one it wouldn't have the 'side effects' mine do, and that coul dbe nicer for everyone. But then again, I wouldn't likely use it."

Kurt sips more of his coffee, "Sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder. Maybe time away helps."

Dani grins, "Yeah, well, help like that I don't need more of, that's for sure." She shrugs a bit, "Besides, commuting is always such a pain, even with having a crash pad here in the city plus the room in Westchester, so…"

Kurt Wagner nods. "If I want to spend time with Angie, I need to be in the city. I can't bring her to the Institute, sadly." Kurt says with a shrug of his shoulder. "But rules are rules for a reason, right. Just means I have to spend more time out this way than over there. So, did you and Alison meet at school?"

Dani chuckles, "Actually, no… we met during a meeting of the Young Avengers, though right now, it's just her, me, and Sarah I think." She makes a slight face at that, "Was a good idea at the time, though, and well, I think Alison liked the armored look I had." She grins, "Not gonna complain about that, either."

Kurt Wagner smirks, "Yes well, I am sure you are quite striking in the armor. I am not going to comment any further than that, Ms. Moonstar. It wouldn't be appropriate as one of the professors at the Institute." Kurt says with a chuckle. "I hadn't heard of the Young Avengers, but that is not surprising. I am sure that there are plenty of groups out there that I don't know about."

Dani chuckles, "Yeah, it was pretty flash in the pan, I guess. Just we wound up thrown together, though we'd make a go as a team, and… well, yeah, now it's pretty much just three of us, so I don't think we're really much of a team at this point." She shrugs a bit, then looks oddly at Kurt, "You can call me Dani, though, most people do. Though I do like the name 'Mirage'."

Kurt Wagner nods. "Alright Dani, feel free to call me Kurt. Mr. Wagner seems so formal, and we are not at school. Mirage seem more something that should be used in the field, but if you would prefer it I will use it."

Dani grins, "Dani works for me, as long as we're not in the field. Though, well, it's been a little while since I actually did things with the X-Men in the field. Would be nice to change that around though." But yeah, with all the demands, sometimes it's hard to find time to save the world.

Kurt Wagner says, "I hear that. I can't even remember the last 'mission' I have been on." Kurt says with a sigh. "Things have been slow in that department, which I suppose it a blessing ja? We have the kind of job where being slow is a good thing."

Dani nods, "Yeah, most of my work lately has been on the valkyrie side of things. Which can be pretty intense, fighting frost giants and the like." She makes a face, then grins wryly at Kurt, "But I guess eventually I can look forward to getting my vet degree and teaching at the school with the rest of you guys. Or else just having a practice specializing in 'unusual' animals."

Somewhere in the distance, Brightwind's ears twitch.

"Unusual.." Kurt says as he drains the last of his coffee. "That would be one way of putting it. I am pretty sure that you would have at least a few regulars with some of the animals our groups has kept as pets."

Kurt eyes the trashcan, and in an instant he has BAMFed over and back to deposit the cup in the receptacle. "So, what do you have planned for the rest of the day, Dani?"

Dani finishes the mocha, then grins, "Probably taking the horse to White Castle for a treat, as he likes their burgers for some Odin-cursed reason, then probably riding back to the Institute for the weekend." She smiles and shrugs, "If you needed a lift up there, I could wait, but it sounds like you have transportation covered… that is, if you were coming back this weekend." There's definitely a knowing tone in her voice with that.

Kurt Wagner chuckles. "I don't have any immediate need to head back, no." explains Kurt. "I am sure Angie would be a bit upset if I just up and left without even saying goodbye as well. I left her sleeping, and didn't expect to be out so long. If I knew I would have run into someone I would have left her a note. I probably should have just done that anyway now that I think about it."

He arches a brow, "I know what White Castle does to me, I don't even want to think about what it does to a horse's digestive tract. Better you than me, Dani."

Dani snickers, "I know, but the horse loves the darn things. I mean, a winged horse needs more protein, so the meat isn't the issue… it's what is there besides the meat that worries me. But so far he hasn't been horrible about it." Well, except maybe that one time…

Dani then grins at Kurt, "Well, it was good to see you, and I'm sure I'll see you up at the school eventually. Who knows, maybe the world will need saving sometime when we're there." She grins, starting to head off as she waves to Kurt, taking time to throw her empty cup in the trash bin.

Lifting a hand in a wave, Kurt calls back "You too, Dani. I am sure I will see you around the Institute soon enough."

*BAMF* He vanishes in a puff of smoke and brimstone.
