Mera has been concerned for Lena since the latter was injured protecting the former from the blast of an Atlantean rebel's weapon. The redhead would have taken Lena under the sea for proper treatment but she was too stubborn for that…even hurt. So, after some time, Mera has 'texted' Lena once more. 'This is Mera. Have you recovered?' She's not one for flowery sentences.

Even before Lena can answer there is another text. 'If you are well, meet me at the lighthouse'. Time and date are also given - late night.

Lena Snart was a stubborn short, there was also some fear about going under the water. It was exciting, but at that time… Before she can answer, she smirks at the location given. A quick word with Mick and the Ice Queen is out and about.

It doesn't take her long to arrive at the location, dressed in black clothing, fitted and more leaning toward punk than goth. Strapped to her thigh is her classic cold gun - she couldn't be too careful around Mera anymore.

Mera is waiting on the rocks, clad in her green armor again - albeit under a long coat. She sits, looking out at the ocean, but upon becoming aware of Lena's presence, she quickly stands. "Lena, I hope you are well." There is something that resembles a smile on her face though it is hindered by the concern she has for the surface-dweller. "Your injury has healed?"

"Not on its own." Lena murmurs calmly, the girl offering Mera a placid smile in return. "A…friend, well, whatever he is, helped me. Hurt like a bitch." She chuckles and touches at her chest. "But, it's gone." She confirms.

"What about you? Are you…alright? With those things that came to attack you?" There's a frown there, a glance out toward the waves as she steps up the stones to stand closer to Mera. "You look so longingly toward the waves. Would you rather not be here?"

A quirk of an eyebrow at someone helping heal blaster damage. What surface-dweller would know how to do that? "As long as you are well now. That is the most important thing."

"I was unhurt thanks to you. It was very noble of you to take that blast for me. Unexpected…but noble. And appreciated." Mera follows Lena's glance out to the ocean for a moment. "It is my home. But my duty is to be here so that my home will be preserved. It does not matter what I would prefer."

"Unexpected?" She muses, her smirk pressing a dimple into her cheek. "Well, I suppose so. I don't know what I was thinking…slip of sanity I'm sure," she follows up with a heavy helping of sarcasm. Silence grows before she speaks again. "I'm glad you're ok." Fingers up, she brushes back her dark hair, keeping her gaze on the inky waves.

"I think it matters, but I know you don't easily bend to the idea of doing for you. I guess it's all that…royal? Lordly blood in you?"

"I am not royal." Mera seems to have to say this a lot to people; it would be flattering, if not so insulting to her King. "Moble, yes." That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. "I like to think it was not a lack of sanity. I like to believe it was intentional" she smiles wryly. "How is your partner? I hope he is not mad at me for getting you hurt."

"I know you're not. You don't have to keep telling me. I call you Princess and Royal because it gets to you. And, well, you look like you should be." Chuckling, she nods and glances down. "Yeah, well…" It was, and hard to admit. At the comment about Mick, she waves it off. "He's fine. I get myself hurt, you had nothing to do with that."

"Ah, you like teasing me that I am not royal" Mera grins before shrugging it off. "I do not mind. I am sure that one day I will be a queen." A beat. "Maybe even empress." It's her turn to tease now.

"Why did you throw yourself in front of me like that? You are a thief? Someone considered by many on the surface as a 'bad' person. Yet all I saw was a self-sacrificing defender of her world." Mera makes her way over to Lena. "Are you able to explain this discrepancy?"

"I'd bow…but I don't do that." Lena winks, watching after Mera and then watching the waves again. She shifts on her legs, allowing one hip to round out more so than the other. Her arms cross under her chest, and her attention only shifts as Mera gets closer.

"Well, if this place gets destroyed, I go down with it. Can't be as I am if I'm dead." No, that didn't make sense what so ever. She knew it, too, and it shows by the way her face twists up, brows knitting. "I don't know. I like you. I guess sometimes I do 'good' things. I'd call it 'stupid' instead."

"You should curtsey, not bow" Mera deadpans as she stands alongside Lena to stare out at the dark sea. Her first explanation certainly didn't make any sense to the Atlantean either but she won't comment on it. A faint smile from Mera at being liked by the master criminal. "It is never stupid to do good. It is stupid to only do bad. Any place would be destroyed if everyone was only out for themselves. It is important to do good every now and then. It means there will be a future." Turning her head towards the 'supervillain', she gives her a playful punch to the shoulder. "You are not as bad as you would like to be and that is a good thing."

"Yeah…I don't believe that, but…" She couldn't deny it. Thinning her lips, she takes a breath and exhales. "I think meeting you has started to ruin me." She scoffs, looking Mera's way once more. "Do you have siblings, Princess?" Another shift, she turns to face the red-head, leaving her interest in the sea behind.

"Ruin you? My apologies" Mera replies, "Though you seem well to me." A shake of her head about family. "No siblings. I am a mutant in my world, Lena. A half-breed whose skin is the wrong color. Thankfully, my King is also a mutant so I am tolerated. Barely. To have more than one such child would have been a scandal beyond forgiveness."

"Don't be sorry. I was just saying I've been having some odd thoughts since we've met. Ones that involve other people and that's not usually my style." Then she listens. "Why? I mean, why does it matter so much? You're a good girl, seems like. Loyal, genuine, patriotic. They should be proud of someone like you. Who popped you out shouldn't be sneered at."

"Involve other people?" Mera snorts with amusement. "You have me intrigued now, Lena." But with talk returning to her lineage, Mera can only shrug at the other woman's wise words. "I am sure that the surface world is also afflicted with such prejudices. Perhaps even more so." She holds up her hand to show off her pale skin. "Not even a trace of blue. To some, how can I ever be a patriot when I look nothing like I 'should'. Not all think in such a way…but enough."

"Mmm. Since meeting you my…sister has come back into my life. Then Ambrose, that scamp. I shouldn't try befriending that ass but I'm trying anyway." A huff, she reaches back and rubs at the nape of her neck; the very idea of expanding her network from two to more obviously annoying the thief.

"Yeah," she answers. "This place can be horrible to everyone, especially if you're different. Supes, mutants, different skin colors…" Watching the woman's hand go up, she shakes her head and looks back out to the sea. "Being a patriot should be more than just what you look like."

"Your sister is back? That sounds like good news to me, though I do not have the experience of a sibling. Is it a bad thing?" Mera seems genuinely curious. "Who is Ambrose? Other than a 'scamp ass'…which I assume is not a good thing." She ponders for a moment. "Oh, I am bad for you because you are letting more people into your life now? Is that it?"

"You are right, a patriot is what is in the heart, not what lies on the skin. The latter is very easy to fake. But some would prefer to live in their shallow world than make the effort to look deeper. Do not concern yourself for me. I can look after myself. And I have a reward for your service during the attack. If that will not be an insult to you."

"I don't have much of an experience myself, honestly." She doesn't answer about it being good or bad - she doesn't talk about her sister any more. Then she laughs, "Yes, that's why you're bad for me. It doesn't mean you're actually bad, just…different. You understand what it's like to be a loner of sorts, don't you? Perhaps you're not one by choice, though."

"Reward? I didn't do it for anything like that. Usually I don't…" Shaking her head, she drops her arms. "Alright. I'll accept and no, it won't insult me."

"A loner? I suppose so. I would probably describe myself more as an outcast. My parents love me though and they are still in my life." A long way away and Mera never sees them but that's just a technicality. "And you have your Mick, so you cannot be too alone."

Mera seems pleased that Lena will accept the gift, even though she doesn't completely believe that it is accepted without some upset. Reaching into her pocket she pulls out something that glitters in the pale light. A necklace. Very old. A large emerald mounted in a diamond covered setting. Mera adopts a stance that resembles being at attention. "Lena Snart, for bravery and services to Atlantis, and the surface, that go beyond the expected and put your own life in jeopardy, I bestow upon you symbol of my gratitude." It is placed around Lena's neck and clasped before Mera places a gentle kiss upon each cheek. "It goes well with your outfit" she winks after stepping back to look it over.

Lena Snart falls silent as Mera speaks of her parents. She nods, understandingly. Then she smirks, "My Mick…Well, that took time, too."

Watching the stance take place, Snart quirks a brow and then stands a bit straighter. Quiet, respective, she looks at the glimmering jewel, her cheeks flushing a vibrant pink as kisses flutter at both. Head down, she looks at the treasure and seems to tremble. A sniffle, she swallows and clears her throat before speaking. "Thank you." Rolling her pale gaze, she settles them on Mera. "Ah, green's more your color, isn't it?"

"Green is an Atlantean color rather than mine" Mera notes with a laugh. "So, of course, any award will reflect that. You can do what you will with it. All I ask is that you remember the gratitude that came with it, even if you have no desire to keep it." It doesn't look like she will be offended by whatever Lena chooses to do with it. The award has been given. The expression of gratitude made.

"How could I forget? A fairy tale gave me a gift." She smirks, touching the gem once more. "I'll stop joking, honestly, I won't forget. I'm a number of things but ungrateful isn't one of them." Hand down, she leaves the necklace in place and at least isn't taking it off. "I meant to ask you before showing up here tonight if you needed me to shoot anyone again."

"No, tonight was just for you. No shooting" Mera assures Lena. "Thank you for coming out but now I shall let you get back to Mick…and your sister…and scamp ass Ambrose. I need to go out there…" A jerk of her thumb towards the ocean. "Good night, Lena."
