Rooftops in Chinatown, approaching the edges of MutantTown. So many towns.
Really, Lexi was /planning/ on avoiding Chinatown for a while due to …reasons, but a buyer decided they just /had/ to meet with her to pick up their latest "order" rather than do it someplace…elsewhere. With less chance of anyone being spotted. Like a stand out mauve mutant girl, for example.
Unfortunately the Golden Axe gang decided they were going to head to the /same/ strip club. Recognition was had.
Annnnnd now Lexi is leaping from rooftop to rooftop, about eight Golden Axe soldiers pursuing amid shouts and drawn martial arts weapons.
Because of /course/ they have those.
Martial arts weapons are better than crowbars. Plus, Spoiler has her own weaponry. Having been on patrol, the aubergine batling perks up at the sound of a foot chase headed her way. She slips into a shadow, watching the figure of Lexi resolve itself in her low-light. She shifts her gaze to the incoming gangers.
Golden Axe. She was trying to get something on them. Spoiler palms a flashbang from her belt, waiting for Lexi to pass her hiding spot so she can toss the mini explosive into the gangers midst, a prelude to her leaping out, drawing her bo staff, and moving to take them down.
Spoiler Alert: There's no real attempt made to play nice either.
The boom and flash of light certainly is not what the gang members are expecting, as several stumble to a halt, covering their eyes and shouting. Some trip and fall over trying to stop and no longer able to see obstacles. Even Lexi seems to twitch, stumbling a bit, covering her ears as she spins around, blinking a bit, her golden eyes reflecting the dim light like a cat's.
She hesistates at the figure with the staff moving in, glancing over her shoulder in the direction she was fleeing, the back again, her lips twisting a bit. Well, she could probalby outrun them….but then, someone apparently decided to beat them up.
She's being rescued. She feels like a princess!
And Spoiler's her knight is black and purple kevlar armor! WIth her cowl protecting her from the flare and the bang, Spoiler slides into action, smoothly dropping the first three she encounters, making sure to hit them hard enough and often enough to prevent them from getting back up, but not so hard that they're in need of immediate medical attention.
The initial gang members have no chance, still reeling from the sound and light and unable to defend themselves as they go down with a series of grunts. The other five have a moment or two to recover, backing up to swing their weapons in front of them, as their vision start to clear again. One snaps something probably very uncomplimentary in Mandarin, stepping forward as he raises the curved short blade he carries…then gets wallops as he goes flying into a nearby air conditioner, hard enough to dent it, as a long purplish 'whip' cracks into him, the other end curling back to where its sprouts out of Lexi's bare forearm, as she murmurs. "He said something /really/ unpleasant. Sorry. Didn't mean to interrupt, go back to this schedule ass beating." She makes a 'all yours' gesture, her lips curving up as she flashes a grin and slightly longer, sharp canines as well.
The gang members are now a bit split in what they want to do. One has a three piece staff, curling it around his shoulders as he rolls his neck, then lifts his chin towards Spoiler, making a 'bring it' gesture, before he lungs at her, the metallic staff swinging in quick snapping motions as he advances. Another, this one carrying an actual axe, tries to start flanking behind her. The other two, one with a pair of daggers and one with a pair of axes, move to try and cut off Lexi, their original target.
"Yeah. Yeah. So's your mother," Spoiler quips back at the insult she didn't understand. The batling tenses, ready to parry-counterattack when whip-crack goes the whippy tendril, and the ganger was done. Spoiler glances back at the mutant. In the low light, her smirk is just visible. Heh… regularly scheduled ass beating. That's funny!
Back to the fray, Spoiler quirks a brow at that three-part staff. She's played with one before. Fun thing. For now though, she likes the one piece staff she uses.
Advanced on, starting to be flanked, Spoiler steps forward, duckign down under the swing of that piecewise staff, using her own to jab at AxeMan's kneecap. She spins around behind Piecewise, hands pulling a small concussion bomb from her belt to throw at one of the ones advancing on Lexi. Sure, the mutant seems able to handle herself, but still! Spoiler's trying to do the hero thing.
The wind whistles as the end of the staff narrowly whiffs past Spoiler's head as she ducks down, as it flips around to wind around his neck again…which doesn't help when his knee goes *crunch* and bends the wrong way as he lets out a yell, going down as his leg crumples. The other guy with the axe feels this is the best time to run screaming at Spoiler from behind, bringing down his axe in a series of vicious swings as he tries to overwhelm her.
The two gangers on Lexi sort of assumed that Spoiler was going to do the whole 'only beat on one guy at a time' thing and that they weren't in line, so safe! This is not so. The bomb blows up, knocking them sprawling, before Lexi very efficiently and brutally put the toe of her boot into his solar plexus, causing him to retch and double over as he loses his dinner, wheezing for breath. The other guy rolls, wobbling as he brings up his two axes, then charges screaming at the mauve mutant!
This apparently is a tactic they practice.
A second tendril curls out from behind Lexis back, then she sidesteps, sweeping forward at about shin height as she trips him off his feet as he staggers off balance, and aieeeeees! as he goes over the side of the building. There's a crash of trash bags and carboard as he lands in the dumpster a couple stories down.
Thank you for annoucing your exact location, thinks Spoiler as Axeman comes charging at her from behind. She watches the ones on Lexi, waiting and baiting Axeman in where she waits him by appearing to be too distracted to notice him. She's not, and the moment he's right where she wanted him, Spoiler duck weave dodges the chopchops, spinning behind him and planting one end of the staff on the ground so she's got teh leverage to side kick him in the back of the skull. Using her staff, she propels herself into the kick, and lands on either side of his ribs, ready to bash him one last time if he's not fully out. Once assured that he is, Spoiler leaves him to makes sure she and Lexi have cleared the rest.
"You alright?" the batling calls out, voice slightly distorted by her suit.
Axeman hits the ground and makes a satisfying *thump* as he does so, out for the count as his axe goes clattering across the rooftop. The rest…well, they don't seem willing or able to continue the fight after that. Lexi folds her arms over her chest, the tendrils she's sprouted curling up like snakes ready to strike, before they retract, sinking back into her purplish skin and leaving a odd swirl of lighter purple behind where they vanish. Random patterns, apparently. "Well. You're shorter than I thought." she says curiously. "Thank you for stepping in, uh…." She pauses, not entirely sure which vigilante haunting rooftops in NY she's run into for a moment.
"Spoiler," the blonde offers when it's clear Lexi doesn't know her name. That's fine with her. The bats aren't supposed to be well known anyway. She steps over the thugs, moving toward the mutant.
"And yes. I am… I don't wear high heels. Are.. you okay?"
"Ooooh, I was gonna say Batgirl." Lexi admits shamelessly. "But Spoiler! Spoiler is good. Hey." She tilts her head as the other girl comes closer, but doesn't retreat. Up close, it's easier to see a few cuts and slashes along the top she's wearing, some of which are making it in danger of breaking comic code if the rest of the fabric gives way at some point. Girl needs the support. "I'm just a lil' cut up…" she admits. "It's cool. Not a bleeder." There's that toothy grin again. 'Though if ya wanna make sure and give me a good look over…"
"Yeah… I tried it but… I like this one better," Spoiler admits as she collapses her staff and tucks it away somewhere behind her and under the cape. The toothy grin is glanced at but the meaning behind it seems to go over Spoiler's head. maybe she's just too short to get it.
"Sure. I can do that," she agrees, motioning toward the edge of the rooftop so Lexi can sit and Spoiler can check her out.
There's a definite once over from the mutant girl as she mmms. "Yeah, looks good on ya…I like th' purple. Kinda my fav color." she says with another faint grin before obediently walking over to take a seat on the edge of the roof, facing away from the street and leaning back on her hands easily. "Never been rescued before. Kinda nice." she admits, shrugging off the loose midriff baring jacket she's wearing, either because it's darker and harder to see, or because it might rain. Underneath, she's wearing a backless top that laces over her back and fits snuggly along the front, along with short shorts that bare quite a bit of her legs. Then again, if she can do that tendril thing anywhere, having more bare skin is good for her. "It's mostly on my back an' side." she says, carefully twisting to show where there's definite red blood coating her skin. Not bleeding currently, it seems. In fact, the cut seems to have pushed itself shut? Not sealed, or healed, but tight enough to keep more blood from leaking out.
A …once over? Spoiler's cheek don't blush but she definitely notes that she's being looked at. Maybe the mutant is looking her over for her weapons? When teh wounds are offered, Spoiler pulls out a small flashlight to make it easier to see, her gloved hands touching near the cuts gently.
"Alright. Looks like they're sealed, but not scabbing. I can bandage them up? So you don't… it looks like you're holding them closed?"
The older girl holds still as the gloved fingers touch her skin. A bit warmer than normal…oddly, no sign of her sweating after that run either. Her hair seems to shift, moving in an invisible breeze as Spoiler gives her prognosis. "Mmm, yeah…can't heal them, but it's kinda like automatic damage control. Got a wetnap in that belt? Gettin' th' blood off would be nice. I mean, I can get it outta th' top, but it's a pain in th' rump." Those pointed ears are perked forward with interest now as golden eyes study the other girl. "But a bandage wouldn't be bad either after that, least i'll soak up th' mess."
"Alright. I can do that," Spoiler says, hand coming away to fish out both wipes and synth skin.
"It might sting," she warns, giving that spoiler warning before she begin wiping at the blood on Lexi. Spoiler set the flashlight against her forearm, letting the small bit of magnetism hold it to her head as she worked to clean up and seal the wounds closed.
Well…the synth skin definitely defeats the purpose, given most isn't, well…purplish. Definitely a missed opporunity for marketing to the mauve market there. The other girl holds still as she's cleaned, shifting a bit. Definitely muscled up close too, though more toned than defined like a body builder. "Somehow I didn't expect a blonde…." she says curiously. "I mean, with th' rep ya got, I expected all gothy dark an' stuff. Maybe black tear tattoos under th' mask or somethin'." Speaking of which, one thing that's easy to see as she's sitting twisted so Spoiler can get at her is the large tattoo across her back…black sun around a biohazard symbol, that covers most of her back. She doesn't so much as twitch as she's worked on though. "I mean, nothin' wrong with bein' blonde or stuff, I kinda like it."
"Maybe…" Spoiler replies noncommittally. She's heard thugs comment about her being blonde before. It almost makes her want to add a wig to the underside of the cowl, and make it dark purple to match the rest of her suit.
"And thanks for letting me be blonde, if I want to. Of course, it could also be a wig and I'm really a red-head."
"Hmmm." Lexi mulls that over, then reaches up carefully to snag one of the curls, running her thumb against it. "I dunno…feels pretty real…" she says curiously. Her own hair shifting a bit again, very slightly. "Mine's real! Wanna see?" she says, her eyes dancing devilishly now.
Having been focused on cleanign and patching, Spoiler spots the move for her hair a moment too late. A soft urk escapes her lips as she's caught, and the way she leans to keep from getting pulled too much makes it clear that yes, it's actually her hair. Spoiler reaches up to pull the lock free, and tosses it back over her shoulder.
"Does your hair also turn into tenticles?" she asks warily.
Lexi draws herself up primly. "Tendrils. Not tentacles. People think weird stuff if they think I've got tentacles." she corrects, tilting her head. "An' not really. I mean, they kinda are already, just really tiny ones that are permanent." She pauses. "An' kinda has a mind of its own, but not bad, just sometimes I gotta be careful not ta lean against somethin' it can tangle around, cuz I gotta concentrate to make it let go then." She shrugs. "Though I can feel a bit through it too, so kinda an' improvement over hair? An' it doesn't fall out. So no goin' bald!"
"Right." Spoiler says of the correction. Tendrils not tenticles, because her mind hadn't gone there, but now that Lexi mentioned it, her mind can't clear itself of certain types of anime. Not sure what to do about it, or how to reply, Spoiler goes back to using a wipe to clean some blood from Lexi's back and side. The two are on a rooftop in Chinatown. Seven gang members are strewn about the roof while an eight lays in a heap in the cardboard and trash in the alley below.
"I'm almost done," she comments to the mutant.

"Mmm, I'm in no rush." the mutant girl notes, watching Spoiler work now. "Ya got a good touch for that. I guess you've done a lot of patchin', then again, with whatcha do." Her golden eyes open a little wider as she asks Spoiler innocently. "So, what reward is appropriate for a princess bein' rescued by a dark knight?"
Kachink, whirr. A grapnel strikes part of the rooftop, and the line retracts, bringing Red Robin to the rooftop. He carries the unconscious ganger from street level, to lay down and add to the pile. And his first words… "So you're more plant than animal, then? That's cool." Wait, how did he hear the thing about tendrils? Has he been watching them with a directional mic?
He greets Spoiler with an arm around her shoulders. "Looks like you guys have done some good work here. Golden Axe, right? Got the police on the way in yet?"
The words appropriate reward and dark knight have Spoiler thankful that she was already ducking her chin down to work AND that the cowl covers a healthy portion of her cheeks. She can feel the blush that she presses aside. Red Robin's arrival does NOT get a sigh of relief from the purple batling. NOPE! She brings her hand up to turn off the flashlight and stow it back into her belt. She stands fully into the arm he tosses around her shoulders.
"I haven't sent them the alert yet. I was making sure the victim's injuries weren't serious," states Spoiler flatly.
Pointed ears flick back for a moment, pinned against the side of Lexi's head at the sudden grappel, her body tensing in readiness to move for a moment, before she slowly relaxes as the newcomer seems to know Spoiler, tilting her head. "She was bein' conscientious." she adds to Spoiler's explanation, grinning a bit. "An' no. Not a plant. All animal, far as I know. I just prefer tendril or whip ta tentacle. People make assumptions." She shivers a bit. "Mmm, so which one are you again?" she says curiously. "I mean, yer more brightly colored than expected. Not that it isn't a perfectly good color an such."
Red Robin nods to Spoiler. "That's good. Medical care on the scene is a good way to avoid moving an injured person too much — always good to avoid that if you can." He turns to Lexi, glancing up and down. Purple skin, seemingly unusual hair… but hey, there are plenty of mutants, mutates, and other unusual people in the world. So he doesn't stare. He just answers the question, pointing to one of the brighter parts of his costume. "Red Robin. Do you have any other injuries that still need to be seen to?"
Spoiler gives Red a single nod at his compliment of her work here, leaving him to answer Lexi's question. Though when he asks about her, Spoiler looks the mutant over again, hoping she hadn't missed any cuts.
"Red's not bad. Still more partial ta her purple. For some reason." She extends a bare arm, wiggling her fingers to show off the purplish hue. "Hmmm." She pauses, twisting back and fore carefully, lifting her arms above her head to carefully flex. "Nah, was in good hands. Just some tender bits here an' there." She tilts her head. "She took down those guys PDQ, really, barely got a chance ta take another swing at me, an' none really got that close." She grins. "Was tellin her, first time I've been a damsel in distress ta be rescued by th' brave knight an' all that."
Red Robin's brow furrows briefly — it's just visible in an adjustment in how the cowl sits. Oh, PDQ == 'Pretty Damn Quick', got it. He nods to himself and moves on. "She does make the purple look good, it's true. But then, she just looks good in general." Because he's not going to let an opportunity like that slip past. "Good work all around, Spoiler. Want to send out the alert? We can head to another roof."
Did… Red …really just…? The cowl is having a slightly harder time covering the blush on her cheeks.
"Yes. Thank you. I'll.. go… do that," she tells her fellow batling, giving Lexi a once nod as she backs away.
"Have a good rest of your night," she tells the mutant while pulling out a sleek black phone to text this in.
@NYPD Rooftop, Chinatown, Bayard&Mott, Roof of Wonton Noodle. #SpoilerAlert 8 perps. Enjoy.
"Not wrong there, she totally does." Subtlety, thy name is definitely not Lexi. The mutant girl extends a pair of tendrils from her back, pushing herself up smoothly to her feet in a graceful motion before they vanish into her lower back again. "Nice meetin' ya….maybe next time won't be cuz someone's tryin' ta kill me or something. I swear, doesn't happen /that/ often!" She puts her hands on her hips, then tosses off a little salute. "Okay batfolks, have a…productive?…night." Her golden eyes glitter like a cats in the dim light of the roof, before she just…falls backwards off the roof, tendrils extending to catch hold of the fire escape below as she parkours/rappels right down the side of the building, dropping easily to the alleyway below. Time to get the heck out of Chinatown before some more Golden Axe thugs bump into her…
Red Robin smiles. Spoiler's blush has crept below the mask, and he calls that a victory. Yes, yes he really did just say that, and in front of someone to boot. He gives the gangers another once-over, making sure they're all bound as well as unconscious — no telling when someone might wake up. "That's good. There's enough violence in the world already. I'd rather you not run into a lot of it…" And Lexi goes over the roof's edge. He blinks and takes a closer check, but she manages the descent just fine. "Well then. Just getting started on this patrol, myself." He offers Spoiler an arm. "Shall we?"
Alert sent to the police, Spoiler looks up to see Lexi gone and Red Robin offering her his arm, like a gentleman. Steph's cheeks hit up again, but she takes his elbow anyway.
"Yeah," she says, voice more than enough to give away her blush. She clears her throat, untangles herself and runs for the edge of the roof in the opposite direction Lexi went.
"Try to keep up, slow poke!"
