It's another morning starting at the Institute, and arriving at the school, Piotr has extra company with him today. Elena is with him, as she usually is for learning. When she gets out, she's dressed in a summer dress with shorts on beneath it as she grabs her cartoon character backpack, and reaches for her papa's hand. "Wait for your dyadya." he says, turning towards the passenger's side of the car.
Piotr himself is dressed for teaching, wearing his suit and tie, a muted lime in color as he waits for Mikhail, and there's a teasing grin offered towards his brother. "Everyone is noticed on their first day, da?"
Mikhail looks around curiously as he gets out of the car. He's dressed casually in jeans and a polo, not particularly worried about impressions. "I am still unsure what benefit this place offers to me." he tells his brother. "Though the seclusion and greenery is nice. New York is very crowded and Central Park just as much."
Isis is back at the Institute. She doesn't like it here, for reasons, but she's had to see the counsellors again. Nick kind of insisted.
She's just arrived herself and when she Piotr she launches herself at him - not really noticing the kid or the other man. "Piotr!" Straight into his personal space to rub her ears against his chest. "You're so tall now. You never told me what happened."
It's then that she notices the others. "Who are these?"
There's a sense of curiousity that seems to roll from her as peers at Mikhail and … Elena. "She looks like you." sniffing the girl a bit and then Mikhail "They smell like you. Her more than him."
"You have been missing for nearly a decade, Misha. It will give you a chance to adjust to things in an environment with others with powers. You can also work on your powers. And perhaps find a place to help out, or prepare for a new life while SHIELD is adjusting everything else.." Piotr starts to say more when he's suddenly plowed into by the lively young woman. "Isis!" he offers in surprise, giving her a quick ruffle between the ears before lowering his hands. Then she's all curious. "I was trapped somewhere.. time worked differently." he tries to explain.
Elena frowns at Isis as she's a little too close to her father, and scoots a little closer to Piotr's leg. "This is my brother, Mikhail. We found him recently." he's offering to Isis. "Mikhail, this is Isis. We found her… shortly before Limbo happened." comes the explanation.
"And this…" he picks up Elena, and sets her easily at his side. "Is Elena, my daughter. Elena, this is Miss Isis."
Elena gives Isis a look that is much like her mother's when Piotr tries to take her chocolate ice cream. "Hello."
"Eight years." Mikhail corrects. Those two years are important. "Adjusting to America is more difficult than adjusting to the year. And the government trained me well in the use of my powers." The rest… well, it's still up in the air just what he wants to do. He stops when he sees Isis barreling toward them and just watches the spectacle, though he looks somewhat puzzled. Once the woman backs up enough that he can see her face, he says "You. I know you. I thought you were a dream."
Isis is not short, she's not overly tall either, but she looks like she's considering climbing Piotr to perch on his shoulder. She thinks better of it when the big man picks up the child "You had a kid?" So much tact from the feline-like mutant. "But I saw you not long ago. Is Kitty her mother?"
Yeah. Tact is not one of her strong points but she does "Hi. I'm Isis… " she'll leave that for a moment. That look. Wow.
Mikhails words have her turning back. "Oh! It's you. You're looking better than the last time I saw you. You've been missing for a long time too? Is your family cursed or something?"
"No. Not Kitty." Thanks, Isis. Piotr hasn't been thinking on /that/, you know, in the last week. He's had seven years to move on. She's had what.. a month? "Kitty returned to England for studies.. Elena is my child with Keiko. You have not met her yet." he starts to say, and that's when Mikhail makes his revelation, and the mutant colossus raises his brow in thought.
"Is she who you met when you said others had visited?" he asks his brother. "Isis has ability to walk in dreams. Visit and help with them." he offers to him with a frown. "But I did not realize that she could move between planes and dimensions in her dreams."
Are they cursed? Mikhail glances over at his brother but doesn't answer. They might be. "Not long for me." he says instead. "Yes, she appeared in a dream one time. But I did not think her real. I dreamt many strange things on the other side of the rift when I was dying." To Isis, he says "I am feeling better too. Did you play a part in them finding me?"
Not Kitty. Huh. That gets Piotr a blue/grey catseyed stare for the moment. Something along the line of … we'll talk. Which either means Isis talking a million miles an hour or dozing off in a ray of sun.
"Mmmhmm. I can." She answers the question Piotr didn't really ask. "I walk the … dream dimension. I saw his dream and it looked interesting, so I took a look." There's a few things that people don't know about her and her abilities. If they did, they might be very worried.
"Kind of?" she answers Mikhail. "When I left you, I found Piotrs dream and stepped through to wake him. Illyana was there - she was the one who found you. Opened a door to your dream, she did. I helped!"
"Did you like the dream I gave you, by the way?"
Excitable kitty is excitable.
"Why are you here? Do you need to go school too?"
"Isis is linked to me, and she finds her way through my dreams to my family." It's the only way Piotr can explain it. Maybe he really is cursed. The large Russian lets out his breath and then gives a shake of his head. "It was all confusing - and there was still Limbo we were dealing with. But she was integral in finding you." he finally offers.
"So, in a way, she is family." In a weird distant cousin way. "Mikhail was away for eight years. I hope the school will give him place to relax, and find his place, now that he is no longer cosmonaut."
"It was only six days for me." Mikhail adds to what Piotr says. "Do you mean the farm? It was very nice." Pretty much everything would have been nice compared to watching his friends die. "I am not certain why I am here except that it is an option I should explore. And relax in, it seems. What are you doing here? You are mutant?"

Isis can find many people through their dreams but maybe it was her familiarity with Piotr that made it easier. Of course. She's also nosy, so there's that.
"What's a cosmonaut?" Quicksilver. The way her attention moves from topic to topic. She frowns as the timeframes are given. "For you it was eight days, but for us it was eight years?" That's to Mikhail "But you were away for how long and it was seven years? Time is weird."
"Me? I'm a mutant. They made me like this. Experiment." The mood from the feline-like mutant shifts to something darker, sadder, and the emotion rolls out over the three. "I … When Piotr and Nick found me, they bought me to the Institute. I wasn't allowed in the school though for nearly a year."
Piotr is going to have to explain that. That she'd been kept in a feral mindset for most of her life.
"They told me I could leave when I turned 18 but they want me to see the counsellors often. Nick told me to come today - I had a problem with a werewolf that attacked us." That sounds like a story worth telling. Speaking of which - she's wearing Nicks t-shirt, it just hangs from her small frame, and as she talks she hugs it to her.
"Werewolf?" Piotr asks, concern on his face. "A cosmonaut is a Russian astronaut." he explains, before shaking his head. "It was not Rhane, was it? She can be a little rough at times." he admits with a shake of his head.
"There are various people here for different reasons, Misha. Some to stay and teach. Some because they have no place else to go. Isis is here for counseling, because she has been feralmost of her life." He closes his eyes against the wash of emotion, and out of habit, he holds out his hand, and places it on the top of Isis' head to press against. A gentle pet to calm her down.
Elena frowns even more. "Papa, she's strange." she says bluntly.
"Elena. Behave." he grunts, frustration in his voice.
Family? Mikhail looks over at Piotr. Like the guy who's sleeping with the sister he didn't know he had and the six year old niece who's impossible because his brother should be fourteen instead of thirty? "I see." A mutant cat girl will fit right in. A step back as the emotion washes over him, not that it helps. "And training I would think."
"Rahne?" Isis shakes her head. "Don't know him. This one was big. Bigger than Nick and he had a thing on his throat that made his bark louder. Made me remember what they did to me in the facility. I was a kitten again and very scared."
Given how on edge Isis is generally, it's probably not hard to imagine how that went down.
The pat on the ears helps a bit. It always does and Isis pushes her head against Piotrs chest.
"AIM are looking for me. In my dreams." That's bad news, right "Training? I work hard to keep myself fighting fit." Not what Mikhail meant, right?
Elena's words get a flash of sharp little canines. "I am. Students here didn't like me because of it."
"There is a full service gym for that type of training." There's a look from Piotr to Isis at that. Some things have not been explained to Mikhail yet. Such as the secret mutant deployment squad that lives here. He gives a shake of his head.
"I apologize for Elena. She can be a little blunt." Like her mother.
"And also wrong." There's a frown as that. And then he lets out his breath before biting on the inside of his cheek.
"Should they find you, I will stop them." Mikhail assures Isis. "I am indented to you for finding me in my dreams and telling my family about me. A Rasputin always pays his debts."
It's probably not the sort of training Mikhail had meant. Isis had seen the way the older, younger … other Rasputin had backed away. The flow of emotions slow a bit, become muted. As they do when she remembers to reign them in.
"Do you want to train here? I could use a new partner. Piotrs always busy with classes and Nick has work." Theoretically, so does Isis but there's a lot of allowances given for her nature. %R"Everyone says they'll protect me and I'll know you'll try." She shakes her head "I don't want anyone else to end up in cages because of me, though."
Piotr gets a look from the almost feral woman. "Never say sorry. It shows weakness. She is right. I'm strange. I live with it." Even if sometimes it hurts.
Reaching up with his right arm, Piotr rubs his eyes with a frustrated noise coming from him. It's not an argument he wants to have. "We're humans, not animals." There's frustration there. Clearly. This is an old, well-played, worn-out emotion that Isis is hit with. And he's just tired of it.
"I need to get Elena on to class. It was good to see you again, Isis. Maybe you can show Mikhail around." he closes his eyes. Shake it off, Rasputin.
"Maybe. I am already well trained but it would not do to lose my edge. It already been weeks since I've had a proper workout." Mikhail says. And if this place is a haven for mutants, there must be somewhere they use to train them. Nodding to Piotr, he says "I will be fine. Isis can show me where you will be and maybe I'll come by and listen to you teach later."
"You're human…" Isis says quietly, flinching a little at the frustration she gets so easily from Piotr. There's an implication there - she's not. She almost pouts as the big man turns to leave. She knows she hurt him, but can't work out why. Emotions are difficult like that.
Of course, she doesn't consider there other factors.
"You haven't trained with me…" It's still a bit subdued, her reply to Mikhail. With Piotr gone, he can't describe how slippery she is. "And I'd like that. I can show around you and then you can buy me lunch. I uh … need to see my counsellor though … That's why I came and if I don't, Nick will be disappointed."
And disappointing Nick or Piotr is something she tries not to do clearly.
"Come on, I'll show the gym." beat "What sort of fighting do you like?"
"I don't like fighting at all." Mikhail answers, motioning for Isis to lead the way. "I prefer to use my powers from a distance but that isn't always possible so they taught me some basic unarmed combat. But you should go see your counselor. I can wander around on my own and explore."
"Oh…" That's an unusual for Isis. "Um. Piotr asked me to show you around but …" she glances at Mikhail, clearly torn. "My appointment won't take long. If I knock enough cups off her table, she tries to finish it early." That's bound to get back and make Isis' life a little more difficult.
"I can meet you after? We can eat…" because of that's the way Isis thinks. "Then I can show you the training facility and you can show me your powers. I'm just a cat and I'm fast."
"You shouldn't knock things off the table." Mikhail points out. "I will still be here even if it takes longer. The point of counseling is to help you so you are only hurting yourself by getting her to end it sooner than she should. Better you make the most of your time with her and /then/ we can eat and you can show me around."
Isis just *pouts* at Mikhail as she shows him inside. If she had a tail, it's likely to be flicking in agitation. Still, he seems nice and she hasn't scared him off - maybe she will when she invades his personal space.
"Alright. I'll do my appointment and I'll find you." How? Well. He'll find out. "Take care and I'll see you for food!" beat "Uh, that way is the library and the common areas…" she gestures vaguely in a direction as she turns towards a corridor where her counsellor probably is. Maybe.
"Remember, she is there to help you so do what you can to help her do that." Mikhail tells Isis. "You are the one who will benefit from it." He looks off in the direction she indicates and nods. "Take your time and I will see you later then."
