There has been a call about a meeting from the Wakandan Embassy, and later the week a black car pulls to the front of the Avengers Mansion, a pair of green and red flags with the wakandan panther in the center. As the vehicle came to a stop, the back door was opened by the driver, and a few moments later the Wakandan Ambassador steps out: Shuri. She stretches a little, glancing up to the sun before taking slow steps towards the entry of the Mansion, the HQ. An all black suit clings to her, a purplish coat with a fur neck adornign her. "Finally…"
Natasha happens to be the one who drew the short straw, that, or she was simply assigned to meet with the Wakandan Ambassador for having the best people's skills, for the most part, out of the team. She is dressed rather casually, however, a black leather jacket over a red tank top, black leggings, and flats. It's comfortable, and she's not looking to impress anyone, in a largely unofficial visit.
"I imagine you would be Ambassador Shuri," she addresses the woman in the purple coat with the fur lined neck. "I am Natasha Romanoff," she extends her hands in greeting before motioning inside, "we're honored to have you visit, please follow me if you will…"
Shuri nods as she follows, giving a short nod to Romanoff before taking the hand and giving her a handshake that hints she is not jsut a politican, but also well trained under that suit.
"The honor is on my side, Miss Romanova, to visit the mighty Avengers in their Home base. I heard that even the Butler of the Avengers is more a hero than the most people. Is this true?" she asks, bantering a little as she follows. "I was secretly hoping to meet some of the team, but you are not a consolidation price."
The handshake from Natasha is equally firm, and she smiles at Shuri when she's met with likewise intensity, "I must admit I hadn't the pleasure of visiting your home country, though I'd love to get the chance," Natasha offers in a manner of small talk while they make their way inside Avengers Mansion. She does turn to give a more meaningful look to Shuri as she refers to her as a fellow Russian made, offering a small smile, "I see what they say of the Wakandans is true, and yes, the Avengers are quite a capable outfit, you would be remiss to dismiss anyone in the grounds' vicinity."
As they proceed further inside, Natasha leads Shuri into a meeting room that already has a tray with snacks and all manner of drinks prepared for the guest. "I appreciate you hold that opinion, I take it you're not one of those to mistake me for the secretary. I appreciate it." She motions for an empty seat for Shuri to sit down, while sitting across from it herself, "so then…what is the reason you wished to meet with a member of the team?"
Shuri waits till she is in the Meeting room to offer back a slightly wicked smile. "How could I mistaken the Black Widdow for merely security? Well, unless you were trying to pose as one, but what would be the point in the Mansion? But there is no tourism industry in in Wakanda, so a visit might be hard to facilitate." As she settles down, she reaches to the slim belt, picking up a slender cylinder with rounded caps and opening it with a twist, pulling out a paper that unfolds to a flat letter format without a sign of the creases it had had momets ago, showing several team photos of the Avengers over the years.
"Oh, I always admired the Avengers for stepping up to take their stance, and I wanted to make them an offer… What do they say about Wakandans?"
"Oh, so I see not wearing the outfit didn't matter, you've got good intel." Natasha says with a knowing grin, clearly, showing up in casual wear was something of a test as to how much Wakanda knows of international affairs of spycraft. "Oh, I've been to places where tourism isn't very active at all, though I must admit, these types of sojourns don't leave much room for sight-seeing."
"Well, of what little we do know, Wakanda is hardly defenseless, regardless of whether the Avengers are within reach or not. Quite impressive actually, the way Wakanda has never been a playing field for the CIA or their counterparts in other countries." Natasha looks over the photos, and then asks, "have you an Avengers candidate to serve on behalf of Wakanda in mind…?" She wonders aloud, assuming that is what the initial question was leading up to. After all, tourism isn't a thing in Wakanda.
"There's a saying that Wakanda has never been conquered or invaded successflly since 100 centuries. That of course includes being the playfield for the various letter soups. But who has interest in a tiny peaceful nation that mainly exports grain anyway?," Shuri notes with a little chuckle, in part repeating something she had used in her speech a couple weeks ago.
"A candidate on behalf of Wakanda sounds rather interesting though. Indeed, I have a certain warrior in mind that might help to bolster the ranks, if you'd want to meet her, I could arrange a meeting on a very short call."
"That would be a powerful deterrent," Natasha agrees, before noting, "it is often said that looks can be deceiving," though she doesn't stipulate what, if anything at all, she may know beyond what is public knowledge. "I am always a fan of meeting colleagues from other countries, you may call your warrior at this very moment, should they be available."
Shuri just reaches to her belt again, pulling a thin mask from it, the stretchy material fittign like a glove over her face, obscurring her features. "It's not a secret that I am wearing the mantle of a Black Panther. But while it might be a deterrent, it is also a huge gesture of an extended hand. It shoudld not be seen as a hand offered only to America, but freedom."
"I had an inkling," Natasha notes as Shuri reaches for the mask, "your handshake suggests more than just a diplomat." She observes the make of the mask, as Shuri dons it, and smiles, "an astute observation. The Avengers are in the business of protecting mankind, not just America. Any skills you'd like to note, I would love to put you up to the others. As we are a team, I cannot make the call on my own."
"Some call Wakanda a warrior nation, and Diplomacy is a different form of combat, or so one of your war strategy manuals say." Shuri chuckles a little, her hands in an ffering gesture. "If you want to see me fight, I am available fr the moment, but if you want my resummee… I got a degree in nuclear phyics and speak about… 6 languages fluently. Or is there something different you'd like to know?"
"Just because the field is verbal doesn't make it any less contentious," Natasha concurs with Shuri, already starting to form an opinion of the woman. "Well, Iron Man has a brilliant technical mind, and employs various implementations to achieve his goals. Captain America has second to none tacitcal wherewithall to handle a fluid op or unplanned encounters in varying terrains. I personally dabble in subterfuge. Hulk, well, he smashes," Natasha chuckles as she offers the kind of input she's looking for initially. "A polyglot is certainly benefitial, as the Avengers do operate across the globe, and I'd fancy not being the only face for the public when languages matter."
She waits a moment to see if Shuri will offer any further information, before offering, "we can do a quick sparr if you'd like to show off."
