It's a Friday night, and Ren's shift at the Burlesque is over. She's done her dances, she's made her money- and now it's time to just kick back and enjoy life. For Ren, that often means drinking and drugs. So she's dressed for a party in her little red dress in general Asian styling. Her hair is done up cute. Make-up. Dancing heels- and, of course, a pair of metal arms.

She's waiting near a bar in Hell's Kitchen, quietly sitting back as she smokes a cigarette and looks around for her dealer- it's not a part if there isn't some MDMA in her system. Everything feels better with a little bit of X.

After waiting for ten or so minutes Ren would probably notice Maya's exit from the bar. She does it in grand fashion, not letting the lagoon blue dress- a bit on the fancy side, maybe, and probably a bit expensive judging by how it shimmers- get in her way. Maya moves like she's floating on air, feet barely touching the ground. Not only is she graceful but the young woman might draw some attenton —- she was playing the piano inside for the evening.

Just now, Maya steps off to the side, and props herself against a wall not too far from where Ren's stationed herself, facing her. A brief smile follows. "…Have a light, by any chance?" It seems she at least has her own cigarette because she holds it up and twirls it deftly between her fingers as she asks her question.

Ren smiles as Maya appears, nodding silently as she pulls a lighter out from her purse and offers it over. "Yeah, of course."

Grace is something Ren knows- it's something she seems to have in spades. She moves only like a dancer could- and even then, there's a little something extra to it. As if she were beyond human. Every step in perfect harmony with the step before and the step yet to come- of course, she's also got those gauntlets on.

Close up, one can see they seem to be part of her. More than just gloves with wickedly sharp talons, no, they're as organic to her as skin and flesh and bone. "You play nicely. Did you study at a conservatory?" she wonders, before taking another drag of her cigarette.

Maya's eyes briefly wander down over Ren's form, spending about a second latched onto those metal hands before they dart right back to the taller woman's face. She pays a great deal of attention, studying her new conversation partner's features as she takes the lighter into a small hand.

"Studied at a conservatory? Yep. Dance and piano. I'm sure that they'd be turning in their graves if they saw where I like to perform these nights." There's a quiet laugh from Maya, and then the soft click and warm glow of a small flame s the cigarette is being lit.

Taking a drag of her own Maya inhales deeply before holding the lighter back out to Ren. "You look like a dancer. Right? My name is Maya. By the way. …Thank you." She leans back against her wall oncce more. Her gaze still doesn't deviate from the other woman's eyes. Intense, if not quite inappropriate given the one on one conversation.

"Yeah." Ren replies, "I'm a dancer." she continues with a nod of her head, eyes a little more ready to look Maya over, taking her lighter back and sliding back into her purse. If she noticed the glance ot her arms- well, it's clear she's used to it.

Before too long a man walks up, "Yo. You Ren?" he asks, looking at the Asian woman with the metal hands. "Yep." she replies, "Who are you?" she asks next, looking at him with slightly narrowed eyes. "Winston sent me." he says.

"The fuck he did. Winston isn't about to send someone else to his deal." Ren says, with a laugh, "Where's Winston?" she asks, eyebrows knitting together. Winston- her dealer- a lovely little gay boy who deals to the homosexual community of NYC. "We had plans to go dancing." she says, her voice turning somewhat cold. "He loves going dancing." she notes- figures Ren would be the type to befriend her dealer.

"…Winston's pretty reliable. Did something happen?" There's a slight change in the woman's expression and she twists slightly to face both Ren and the newcomer, those mahogany eyes narrowing slightly as she studies them both.

"Who are you?" The question might be a bit blunt, but it seems that the smaller woman is already becoming deeply suspicious, much as Ren had. She tenses very slightly, but otherwise hardly moves, palms against the brick wall behind her. Ren is spared a glance, but it seems Maya is never one to let her eyes wander.

"I'm calling him." Ren states decisively as she reaches into her purse- at the same exact moment the man decides to give her a fairly mighty push. Ren stumbles back.

She would fall on her ass, but in truth she's just far too agile for that kind of thing- even drunk and potentially stoned. Sure, she starts to fall, but her hands shoot out and soon she's rolling back to land on her heels with a truly inhuman grace. "Hey! What the fuck, dude?!" she says, as the man pulls out a knife. "Give me your cash. All of it." he growls.
"No, fuck you!" Ren says, defiant as she grabs her phone and dials up Winston. Winston's phone rings- this douch-canoe has it! Likely stolen. "Mother fucker!"

Then Maya is involved. As Ren stumbles backward the other woman is already moving to occupy her place, interposing her smaller form between mugger and dancer. She's glowering coldly at the fllow in quesiton, her knees slightly bent. "No one's going to be paying you anything. You should probably go."
There's the matter of the knife, and it splits Maya's attention- between the man's face and his hands. One watching her closely might notice the way her eyes are darting as she maneuvers herself to stay out of range of that point.
"Just drop the knife. And the phone. And get the fuck out of here. Please?"

Ren- drunk and certainly not in her right mind has her fists up- those metal gauntlets look pretty nasty. "Yeah! Winston loves that phone!" she says, as she sways in place. "I can do some scary things, dude!" It's a mostly hollow boast. Ren does not know how to fight.

"Look, I need the money- so just make this easy and give it to me." the man says, still brandishing the knife. "I will cut you bitches if you don't do it." he says once again with the knife in hand- ready to thrust. "Give me your purse, and I'll go."

Maya rolls her eyes at that statement and clicks her tongue against the roof of her mouth. "Neevermind," When the man brandihses the knife at her in that way she starts to move. With the knife in the man's hand Maya goes left, outside of easy reach and then she lunges quickly, going for the unlucky mugger's wrist. As soon as she's closed the gap it will probably be over, since she'll stomp on his instep, wrench his arm until the knife hits the stones with a clatter, and throw him to the ground. A couple kicks are added for good measure
"I asked you nicely." Kicking the knife away for now the woman now turns toward Ren —- and blinks a few times. "Woah! Easy there. I think we got him. It's okay." She actually favours the dancer with a smile as she crouches down to retrieve Winston's phone from the guy's jacket pocket.

"Yeah!" Ren says, grinning wide as the guy gets his comeuppance. "Hah! Take that!" she's grinning wide like an idiot, "Come on, I know where Winston is usually. I bet this jerk lifted his phone from the 'Cat." she says, taking Maya's hand and starting to lead her away to the famous gay club. "He'll love having that phone back, he's probably freeeaaaking out!"

Ren just steps over the guy, who's groaning in pain. He's clearly beaten.

"…Right. Sure. I wanted to go dancing tonight anyway." Maya gives Ren a nod, her expression one of thought. There's muted surprise in thosedark eyes when the woman's hand is snagged, but then she is being tugged down the alley—- and runs with it. Away they go, the man left to groan in pain behind them. Maya twists slightly, walking so that she can continue to see her companion's features as they travel.
"So. You know Winston too, hm? Small world." Maya will be content to make small talk as they walk. "Also need to have a word with Winnie about putting drop offs in his phone…"
