The late afternoon casts golden liht into the japanese garden in the Brooklyn botanical garden, the small shrine almost otherworldly brightly pulled out of the shade of the trees next to it. Almost like a place from a legend, even if it was not even a hundred. Sitting in the shade of a cherry tree is Junko, next to her on the right side lays a cloth bag, quite long and slim as she seems to meditate about something, the eyes lidded.

Some people meditate to find peace. Some people self-medicate. Ren Kimura is one of the latter. She's almost certainly not sober as she wanders down the paths of the botanical gardens, towards the shrine and the cherry trees. She sways as she walks, ducking behind some of the trees before taking a seat.

Ren quietly pulls a joint out, then- something mixed with tobacco to make it a little harder to know, exactly, what she's smoking. She lights up and leans back, looking up at the leaves of the tree quietly as she puffs a few times and just tries to relax.

The change of the air as Ren lights her blunt makes the nose of the meditating girl twitch, her eyes opening. She looks to the sides, finding Ren just a coule yards off to the side. "Excuse me…" she starts, reaching for the thing she had in the long item in its sheath.

The rolled cigarette hangs in Ren's mouth as the Japanese-American woman looks over to Junko. "What?" she asks, before taking another pull. Oddly, Ren seems to be wearing a pair of woven gauntlets over her forearms and hands- with wickedly sharp claws at the end of each finger.

As Junko gets up a little, just enough to get the item better to her lap, she eyes the smoking one over, stopping at the hands. "Are those Neko-Te?"

"I have literally no idea what you're on about, my dude." Ren replies simply, inhaling slowly on her joint. "What's Neko-Te?" she asks, then, as she continues to just sit and watch the sky through the leaves of the trees.

Junko liftes her left hand to gesture at the hands of Ren. "Cat claws. That's what fingertips with blades are sometimes called. Do you practice some kind of martial art that uses them?" she asks, still holding the item in its cover in the right.

"Nope. Those are my hands and arms." Ren replies. "My whole forearms and hands are just metal now." she shrugs, "That's the way the world works these days, I guess." Ren continues as she takes another pull from her joint. She offers it over to Junko quietly. "Care for a pull?"

Junko slowly blinks at the confession that those are Ren's hands, standing up to move closer. "I better don't. Does it… hurt? I mean, you said they are metal now… does it spread?" she asks, the thing she had with her put down on her left now as she settles.

"No. Just feel like normal hands to me." Ren replies with a shrug. She still offers the joint to Junko- waiting to see if she's willing to take it. "They're just my hands. It is what it is." she says with another little shrug. "I didn't ask for it, and I don't want to talk so much about it. This thing has ruined my life."

"Has it? Life gave you a challenge, so much I see. But it is your choice how to tackle it." Junko lifts her hand in a gesture denying the blunt. "Nobody ever knows the price and value of powers when they first encounter them."

"Yeah, I'm sure." Ren replies, taking another long pull on her joint. "I've been given a gift, sure." she rolls her eyes quietly. "You don't know anything about me. Pretty presumptuous of you to give me life advice, don't you think?" she asks, anger tinging her voice as she takes another long pull. "I came here to relax and just chill before work, I don't need a friggin' lecture from a complete stranger."

"It's not a gift. Power in itself is a burdon. It's a blade without a hilt. It's how you handle it, that can be a gift." Junko says as she turns to the girl, her palm opening, a flame appearing over it. A tiny flame, almost like a candle. "First, I wanted to ask you to sparr, but now I'd like to make an offer, but if you don't want to hear it, that's your choice. I'll leave then."

"Yeah, I'd rather not." Ren states, taking another long pull before tossing the roach away and sitting up. She stands soon after- moving with an almost inhuman grace. "Thanks for the chat."

Ren then begins on her way- walking towards the exit.

As Ren stands up to leave, Junko shrugs, looking after the woman some long moments. "I hope you find your luck."
