Steppin' In A Disaster Zone

lokimerasunny

A humid, cloudy Wednesday night in the Disaster Zone. This means it is dark. No lights. No traffic. There shouldn't be any people in here either but there are. The homeless. The lost. The criminal. Inhabiting the shells of buildings and trying to make a living in a place where anything goes.

Mera has found herself here a couple of times now. Once she met a Prince, the other time a Princess, though neither of them seem to be here now. The redhead, dressed in her 'human' clothes, sits on a concrete block overlooking the ocean. A gunshot rings out somewhere but she only has a casual glance in the direction; not concerned at all it seems.

Loki is another Prince to add to the list. He is /definitely/ up to some shady stuff in here. The godling is dressed in all black light leather armor, with the barest hints of dark green. Even his bracers have been dimmed, the gold color changed to a dingy, aged brassy one. Slink, slink, slink, he's definitely about to enter a boarded up store front.

Sunny, ironically enough, might -almost- count as a princess. Not that she knew about that. Instead, the woman was simply wandering through the disaster zone. She was wearing her more modern clothing, but that truly just referred to the materials of the long tan coat she wore open over the black leather pants. Of course, that itself was perhaps a little less striking than the 'gunslinger' belt she wore slung across her hips, but the firearms themselves at least were hidden for the moment by the coat.

She seems dressed like she'd stepped out of some weird western as she walks through the ruined streets. Truthfully? That wasn't far off the mark!

Mera retrieves a device from her coat pocket that is about the size of a phone but not of human make. A holographic, 3-D image of New York appears above it before she uses touch to navigate her way to where she sits. Peers at it for a few moments and then turns her head to match what she sees with the image. It seems it needs updating. The device shuts down and is slipped back into her pocket as she rises from her perch and turns landwards. Which is when she sees another woman in a long coat. The redhead studying her with inherent judgement - being nobility will do that. As for super slinky Loki…she hasn't seen him yet. "Good evening" she states to Sunny. "Are you looking for Prince Joker?"

Loki glances over to see if anyone is watching, and that's when he does spot the two women coming closer to each other. Is…that one a cowboy? And my, the red hair on the other is striking! He yanks a board off the window so he can see inside the place better that he's skulking around. The comment, Prince Joker, gets his attention. Surely…that could not mean him!

The redhead's comment has the brilliantly blonde woman blinking for a second, crossing her arms over her bust. "'Prince' Joker?" she questions lightly, blinking for a moment. "Is that some sort of song and dance act?" Yep, it sounded perfectly strange to her too. That holographic device? It seems to have been missed by Sunny, but the skulking man in his armor going for the storefront earns her gaze. "Actually…I was looking for someone who caused a little trouble last night when I went for a 'quiet drink'."

"You do not know Prince Joker?" Mera shrugs at Sunny. "This is probably for the best, since those who do, never have anything nice to say about him. I met him here handing out gifts to the denizens. I assumed, incorrectly, that you were seeking out his favor. For this, I apologize." A pause. "I do not think he sings and dances though he is an extroverted person." Much too touchy as well. There is an arching of a curious eyebrow. "Trouble? What kind of trouble?" Mera follows Sunny's gaze to see the man in black. "Is that the troublemaker?"

Loki might be! Even he's not always sure. When he sees both ladies looking at him, he holds up his hands and smiles. His head cants, and he waits until he's a few steps closer before he puts his silvertongue to action. "I could not possibly be this Joker fellow you speak of and have never heard of such a prince. Of course, when you think of trouble, it could never be me." His tone is smooth and lilting, luring and molten, trying to curry favor from the start.

With Sunny confirming that Loki is NOT the troublemaker she is after, Mera is still convinced he is a troublemaker of some kind. Anyone with that smooth a voice and easy charm is not someone to be trusted. Particularly when they're sneaking around in the dark wearing black. "I know you are not the Joker. You are not wearing purple. Who are you?"

"I am Loki…" the trickster introduces. "Did you know that this area is off limits to the good people of the city?" A few steps more take him into a good distance for conversation. "And who are you who has ventured here?"

"Loki?" An interesting name to Mera…and familiar too. Though she can't quite place it. Besides, there are probably millions of people with that name in this city alone. "I am not a person of this city. Ergo, it is not off-limits to me. And there are many who still live here. My name is Mera." There is an imperiousness to her tone. As if she expects to be treated deferentially.

"Loki?" Sunny repeats, shifting a little on her hip and raising an eyebrow at his comment. "Off-limits to the 'good people'?" she repeats lazily. "An' what would that make you then?" Mera's tone and comment? That has her raising an eyebrow even if she hadn't offered an introduction of herself.

"I was only pointing out that we are all disobeying the same rule at the moment." Loki sidesteps the more pointed of the questions! "Mera…" he looks over towards Sunny, "She sounds important. Now…my dear ladies, I am afraid that I do need to leave you here, unsupervised. Promise that you will not destroy it more than it already is?"

"I think that makes Mister Loki a man of questionable intent" Mera asides to Sunny - even though the other woman has yet to present herself. The Atlantean is slowly getting used to the manners of humanity. Or lack thereof. "I am important" she smiles sweetly to Loki before a furrowing of her brow at his need to depart. "Why do I get the impression that we caught him doing something he shouldn't" she smiles to Sunny.

"Because if he was looking any more crooked, he'd be dragging his chin along the ground?" Sunny muses in answer to Mera, her crossed arms coming down from her bust to rest both hands on her hips. Of course, she didn't plan on shooting him but…well, habit.

Mera watches Loki disappear into the night…did he literally disappear? "May I inquire of your name?" Mera asks the woman who remains. "Unless you wish to keep it a secret. That is your prerogative. But the strange man in black is correct, this is a dangerous area to be found in. Most of the humans do not come here. Why have you?"

"My name?" Sunny repeats, tilting her head to the side and then blinking as Loki just…vanishes. "Son of a…" she breathes and shakes her head. "My name is Sunny," she offers with a gesture of her hand to herself. "Like the weather, and I'm not too afraid of a 'dangerous area' like this. It's generally the sort of place I end up. You on the other hand?" She gestures lightly to Mera with a wink. "Seems a little more fancy."

"That is a positive name" Mera nods. "Better than being called 'Cloudy'." Fancy?" That makes the redhead laugh. "I do not think of myself as 'fancy'." Superior. But not Fancy. "Are you staying in this area?" She looks her over before smiling softly. "I think only temporarily. You travel the world a lot? Must be very slow on foot."

"Might be more for my hair than my mood some days," the woman chuckles, giving the other woman another wink before she shakes her head. "Not generally. Like I said, I was here looking for someone. Girl in green, sort of hard to miss for all the skin she was flashing. Caused an interesting bit of trouble around before running. Curiosity got the better of me." A tilt of her head at the supposition, she shrugs her shoulders. "I suppose so. And it is, but people look at you funny if you go by horse these days."

"A girl in green?" Mera has to think on whether she caused trouble herself recently, but, no, she's only ever been seen in her 'human' clothes so far. "There is nothing wrong with traveling by sea-horse" she notes, disbelieving that anyone could think such a thing. "This girl in green, what did she do? And she was half-naked?" A snort of a laugh. "I hope it was the good half. She came into these ruins?"

"Outfit was flattering enough but…I get the sense that she wasn't quite all there." Sunny murmurs, but the mention of a 'Sea horse' earns a quirk of a grin from Sunny. "Till you need to cross land, right?" of course her words were in jest rather than literal. How would she know? A grin, she lazily rests her hands with her gloved fingers tucked into her belt. "So Mera, you came out here looking for this 'Prince' guy?"

"I try not to travel too far from the water" Mera smiles in reply about the seahorses. "I shall keep my eye out for this half-naked woman in green." A shake of her head. "No, I did not come looking for Prince Joker, though if he is around, I would like to talk to him again. He has some interesting ideas…though I am not sure he is 'all there' either. There was another person I met here who I was also interested in seeing again. She was in trouble…I hope she is well." A pause before she adds. "She does not wear green."

"Girl in trouble?" Sunny repeats, frowning a little. "The 'bad day' kinda trouble or the bloody kind?" There's a shift of her hands now, back to relaxed at her hips with only the barest glimpse of the weapon at her hip offered. It probably wasn't strictly legal to carry like this, but neither was being here to begin with. "Still, there are better parts of the city to meet people then here…depending on the people anyhow."

"I gave her a way to communicate with me if she needed my assistance, but it was much more than a 'bad day'. She was trying to protect others and…" Mera smiles sweetly to Sunny. "I have probably said too much. For all I know, you could be one of the people after her. There are better parts of the city? I have not seen them yet." A wave of her hand at the world around them. "The buildings may be standing, but the rot still remains."

Despite herself, the woman actually gives a little chuckle and shakes her head. "Sounds like a good woman. Keen on her, or just what she was doing?" Sunny grins, lifting her hands. "Doubt she's who I was looking for, and even then, I've got no plans on causing a fuss or anything like that. Hopefully she's doin' well then."

"Keen on her? Of course not." Mera has adopted that noble tone again, almost dismissive of the idea, though there is also a blush to her pale skin. "She was obviously of noble character and I wished to assist her." Time to change the subject. "Why are you searching for your green woman if you do not intend to do anything? Oh…are you keen on her?"

"Curiosity in truth," Sunny chuckles, that blush almost certainly not lost on the blonde woman. "Girl seemed on a mission, the sort that apparently involved messing someone up pretty bad. Got me wondering what had her running around like that. S'pose she was sorta cute in a crazy way." The blonde shrugs her shoulders once again. "One of those things you end up trying to work out if you need to lend a hand or put a stop to it."

"Your woman wished to hurt someone? Kill them? She may have had a good reason." Mera understands that some solutions need to be…severe. "Is that what you do, Sunny? Help or stop? A hero of some kind?" A half smile from the redhead. "Perhaps you have a noble heart too, Sunny. You are not running too, are you? No, you seem like the kind of person who runs towards, not away."

Sunny shrugs, but there's a pause to her as she does so. "I suppose it is," she muses. "Try and do a good thing here and there, do what I can with what I can. God-given gifts and all that." A grin, despite herself. "I don't know about 'hero' though. More a 'well-meaning ball of trouble', at least as far as an old friend of mine used to say. Besides, it's always more fun to walk after the interesting stuff rather than flee from it."

"Hero is not a name we bestow on ourselves. It is up to others to decide that. A 'ball of trouble' at least sounds fun." Mera smiles to the gunslinger before bowing ever so slightly - more of a nod of her head. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Sunny. I hope we see each other again…and you find your woman." Then she is off, heading towards the sea.
