Background

Althea Harman was an accident- a father in his first year of law, her mother in her junior year of college. Mom didn't want an abortion, Dad didn't want to get married or be tied down. Dad went to his father, and got Althea's mother Callie a chunk of money so she could have the child and raise it with some semblence of normalcy. Callie's Greek Orthodox family was less than pleased, and while they did not ostracize her completely, she was not welcomed warmly to most family events, and eventually stopped going, sending Thea alone. Thea grew up speaking Greek alongside English, so she ended up hanging around her grandfather's restaurant to translate from a very young age.
When Thea was in the third grade, her father Daniel decided he wanted to get into the poltical area. At the behest of the PR consultant for his campaign, he went to Callie, and again offered her money to quietly sign over custody. Thea was the perfect note for his campaign, his earlier mistakes, bringing her to live with him and his new, blonde wife and their toddler son Daniel Jr . She was enrolled in a private school, and given tutors to get her ready for more accelerated learning. She started French in fourth grade, and was fluent by middle school. Thea skipped seventh grade thanks to her after school tutors, getting straight As. Once in high school, Thea diverged from most of her female friends, taking more interest in math and science. Still she kept up with her after school activities of cheerleading, and her father's insisted upon debate club. At fifteen, already a junior, Thea's mutation manifested when her birth mother passed away suddenly from a car accident. The girl, already distraught, was wreaking havoc with the bodies of those around her, only making her more so.
Daniel went to his PR consultant, having no idea how to handle a mutant daughter with uncontrolled powers when his re-election was looming. The PR consultant, Ram, said he had an uncle who was a mutant, and would take Thea to teach her control - for a fairly exorbitant fee. Daniel agreed, and Thea was packed off on a plane in the middle of the night to the middle East. Ram's uncle Avi was a mutant, a low level pyrokinetic, who ran a small compound full of mutants. For a girl from a fairly relaxed, rich life, it was a abrupt awakening. She was woken early in the morning, there were chores, and regimentated days. Power control, exercise that ran heavy into self-defense early on, and into offense more and more as months passed. Evenings after the dinner hour were for keeping up with her schooling until she passed the G.E.D. test. She learned Hebrew and Arabic in order to be able to converse with the majority of people around the compound, or in the nearest city when she was allowed to go. It was two years in, several months shy of her eighteenth birthday, that Avi dressed her up with a fancy dress and a brunette wig , and took her to a party. Rather than something to enjoy, he was constantly whispering in her ear, demanding to know about physicalities of other people - who had a weak heart, who was on drugs, so on and so on.
That was Thea's first step beyond a simple schoolgirl, and into the life of covert information gathering. From there it slowly escalated, as Avi isolated her more and more, moving her away from the compound to a small house miles away from anywhere. He took over the whole of her training himself, her only conduit to the outside world. So when he asked her a favor, she eagerly agreed, as it would get her out of the isolated home. That favor was her first strike - making a man beg for mercy, spilling his secrets without leaving a mark. The next time, she sent a man to the hospital. The time after that, the morgue. It was only when Avi sent her to assassinate a man, and she saw him with his child in his arms, that Thea realized she was being used. So she used her powers, sending the man to the hospital before returning to the home Avi kept her in. She spun a story about being interuppted, and that she would try again. Instead, she waited to Avi to leave, and gathered her things. She marched for miles before hitching a ride, and vanished. She had her grandfather wire her money to an account, and disappeared for a year to live in hiding to give Avi time to get over his temper, and realize that she meant it when she'd written him that she would kill him if he came after her or hers.
Now, back in her own apartment in New York, Thea is deciding what path she wants her own life to take. She knows how to kill with her powers, she knows how to heal. Which will win out?

Powers

• Biokinesis: Thea can sense things about the bodies in the people around her. Blood pressure levels, recent/current injuries, if blood flow is slow, sluggish, or blocked. She can read information on a person's general health, pinched nerves,broken bones, etc. The distance between her and the target affects the speed of her healing ability. Through the laying on of hands, she can cause the surface of a wound to knit together, though should she have to do this in an emergency situation, it can result in scar tissue. She can heal a bullet wound (non-killshot, obviously) in a matter of a few minutes, if she can lay on hands and focus strictly on that one individual/one wound. The bigger the wound, the harder it is, and too many leave her limited in how much healing she can do at one time. When she can not lay on of hands, she can still accelerate the healing, and keep a target in much better condition than without her help. The more she lays on of hands, the more of her own energy/vitality she burns, and the more quickly she will tire out. Thea's powers, the ability to scan and sense another's biometrics, makes people easier to remember by that, than by faces, and it is harder for her to be tricked by illusions or metamorphs.
• Body/Brain chemicals- She has the ability to raise levels of chemicals in the body: Seratonin (It's a factor in clotting, helping digestion, as well as helping a feeling of well-being) , melatonin (Helpful for putting someone to sleep/mellowing them out), as well as Norepinephrine (which is related to fight or flight response to stress, and can be used to stay alert) and Epinephrine.
• Physical Intuition- While Thea can not see broken bones/etc as clearly as one would on an X-ray, she can sense/'see' some damage has been done to it, and with her training, go from there to try and define just how bad the damage is. Same goes for dislocations, snapped or strained ligaments, tendons, etc.
• B.P. Interference- She can help raise or lower a person's blood pressure, in order to try and keep someone stabilized. Doing so for any serious length of time, however, is heavily taxing, and if she is forced to do so for too long, it can play havoc with her own self of sense and her own blood pressure.
• Fluid separation/pull- Thea has a limited ability to control and separate levels of the circulatory system and components of blood. Example : Pulling blood away from the lungs, perhaps in case of a puncture, pushing blood past a blockage. Encouraging platelets to a wound to cause it to clot more quickly, or to encourage white blood cells to concentrate in the area where she senses infection. Of course, she could also do this in reverse, and cause someone to not clot and keep bleeding.

Skills

• Weaponry- Thea is okay with automatic rifles, better with handguns, and a terror with a knife.
• Driving- She can Drive anything from a Humvee, to a smartcar, to a motorcycle like a bat out of hell.
• Cooking- Thea can live off her cooking, even if she's not a gourmet. It is a skill she hopes to improve on.
• Training- Thea does have several years worth of medical training in a battlefield/covert ops setting.
• Multi-lingual: Due to her upbringing and schooling, Thea is completely fluent in Greek, English, and French, and due to her more intensive training, can follow along and is somewhat fluent in Arabic and Hebrew.
• Hand to Hand- in addition to using her powers, Thea has been taught to fight in dribs and drabs of multiple styles, but her biggest influence is Krav Maga.
• Diplomatic: Her father was an ambassador and diplomat, and while she prefers blunt speech, Thea knows how to be tactful and polite enough to settle ruffled feathers.
• Educated- Thea went to high pressure, high cost private school, before being sent away. Her education did not stop then, and she was required to study even as she was being trained in control and other specialities.

Advantages

• Money- Her father's family has money - old money, and as a favorite child of her grandfather, Thea never lacks for money, and has come into the first level of her trust fund.
• Connections- Between her father's political connections, her grandfather's business ties, and her former mentor's network, Thea has a lot of avenues to tap if she needs to.
• School Ties- Before she was sent overseas, Thea met any number of other upper class and rich kids in her school classes and activities.

Flaws

• Light- headedness- Times when Thea focuses too narrowly and intensely, for too long a period of time, she will start to feel dizzy and slightly disorientated. She has yet to determine why this is, though she has started to note that at times such as this, her body tends to react to her mutation's command towards the injured body, and can mess with her blood flow, etc.
• Headache: Should Thea progress past the signals of disorientation and dizziness, she will start to develop a head ache that will get to be rather severe the longer she continues, to the point of extreme pain, like a disabling migraine.
• Burnout: If she does not heed the signals of disorientation or headache, and continues to push her powers, once she stops, she can not use them again, even to manipulate something small in scale, until her mind has had time to 'recharge'.
• PTSD- Thea has some mild PTSD from her intensive training - an overprotected rich girl shoved into a very different life where violence is expected. She tries to deny it, and sometimes uses alcohol to medicate.
• Strained relations- Thea has become distant from her family, as one may expect in the life she has undertaken. It puzzles her father and stepmother, and her grandfather often calls to guilt her into a visit.
