Background

Stolen as a young child by the Nightfall, an organisation that works in the shadows of which little is known about, Keiko was marked and began her training. The training was harsh but taught her how to use the tattoo of the wolf she'd been marked with.

Throughout the years, Keiko learned well and received more markings. Each one denoting her ascension through the ranks of the Nightfall and each one being bound to the spirit of the creature or monster it represented.

The process of receiving each tattoo is painfully horrific. It's more than just the marking of the skin with an ancient arcane ritual being performed to bind the bearers spirit to the animal. Most bearers end up just a little crazy and are known to go berserk at times.

Life wasn't easy for the prisoners though, they performed the tasks they were given and controlled through mental conditioning and physical punishment. However, to become a tattoo wielder requires a lot of mental fortitude and controlling these prisoners is not easy. It wasn't long after receiving her last mark, the Dragon, that Keiko was able to break enough of the conditioning to escape the Nightfall. She ran, for as long and as far as she could. She remembers little of that flight and doesn't know where she was held or how she left.
That was three years ago and she now makes her home in New York making a living as a 'jill of all trades' doing odd jobs that, in the main, pay well and let her keep a low profile.

The Nightfall is looking for her, of course. Maybe they've already found her and are just biding their time before they retrieve her.

Powers

Tattoo Spirits

Keiko is able to call the spirits of the animals tattooed on her skin by touching them. Each spirit summoned has specific statistics.

Dragon tattoo: - Spirit dragon (Glydril) is summoned. Uses a breath weapon; fights with claws and teeth; causes terror. Can be used for transport.

• Size: 6'5" tall at the shoulder; approx 30' long nose to tail.
• Speed (ground): 50 to 60 miles per hour. Moves clumsily.
• Speed (aerial): 200 to 250 miles per hour.
• Speed (aerial dive attack): Up to 300 miles per hour for up to 100 to 120 feet.
• Damage (claws and teeth): Similar to most conventional firearms
• Damage (breath weapon): Can shoot a gout of fire up to 100 yards for up to 2 minutes.
• Toughness: Similar to kevlar
• Summoning / Control distance: 2 miles.
• Corruptive Influence: Mild

Demonic Giant Harpy Eagle- Spirit of an enormous Harpy Eagle (Onyxia) is summoned. Has the head of woman thanks to Limbo's influence. Mainly used for Transport.

• Size: 6' tall at the shoulder
• Speed (aerial): 100 to 120 miles per hour
• Toughness: Similar to kevlar
• Summoning / Control distance: 1 mile.
• Corruptive Influence: Moderate

Barghest- The spirit of a 'black dog', Barghest, is summoned (Cullen) . Primarily used for supernaturally tracking and hunting.

• Speed: 80 to 100 mph
• Damage (claws and teeth): Similar to most conventional firearms
• Toughness: Similar to kevlar
• Senses: Supernaturally enhanced ability to track people and creatures.
• Summoning / Control distance: 2 miles.
• Corruptive Influence: Mild

Demonic Wolf tattoo- Demonic Spirit Wolf (Bella) is summoned. Creature is enhanced and good for fighting for claws and teeth. Could be ridden.

• Speed: 40 to 50 mph
• Damage (claws and teeth): Similar to most conventional firearms
• Toughness: Similar to high strength plastic
• Summoning / Control distance: 2 miles.
• Corruptive Influence: Moderate

Zombie Raven tattoo- Spirit raven (Mirlo) covered in glowing runes is summoned. Primarily used for surveillance and spying. Supernaturally enhanced.

• Speed (flying): Between 30 and 40 miles per hour.
• Speed (aerial dive attack): Up to 120 miles per hour for a distance of about 100 feet.
• Vision: Up to 200 feet.
• Damage (teeth and talons): Similar to archaic firearms
• Toughness: Similar to high strength plastic
• Summoning / Control distance: 2 miles.
• Corruptive Influence: Moderate

Gigantic Tarantula tattoo- Spirit of a gigantic tarantula (Arananet) is summoned. Supernaturally large, this creature aids with spying and theft; and horrifying people.

• Size: Body length approx 8", Leg span approximately 24"
• Weight Bearing: Can carry up to about 5lbs
• Vision: Up to approximately 40'
• Toughness: Similar to high strength plastic
• Summoning / Control distance: 72 feet.
• Corruptive Influence: Mild

Prometheum Infused Tattoo

The outline of the tattoo on Keiko's back has been infused with Prometheum and is slowly taking form. When she activates this tattoo it provides:

• Wings: Allow Flight up 200mph
• Armour: Demonic scales cover her body and head, including face, to form armour the strength of Kevlar.

She looks like a demon and with practice can have the Wings and Armour activate individually.

Magical Resonance

Keiko's tattoo's resonate when magic is used within a few metres of her.

Skills

Something of a Martial Artist

Trained in Mixed Martial Arts, Keiko is proficient in the use of escrima sticks and staves. Keiko's been training everyday for the last seventeen years with the strictest of task masters, her fighting skills are really quite excellent.

Keiko has been known to become 'berserk' under extremely trying situations which is both a help and a hinderance.

Blends into the background:

After years on the run, Keiko knows how to blend in and not be seen.

Handy with her hands:

Not formally qualified as anything in particular, Keiko works well with her hands and performs home and building maintenance tasks.

Languages:

Spanish, English and Russian. She can speak all three moderately well. She barely read and write English, barely read Spanish and not write at all, and can't read or write Russian at all.

Advantages

Nightfall Quarterstaff

A telescope metal staff that Keiko uses as a Quarterstaff. It looks like a normal metal alloy but it's really made from Gossamer through an ancient and arcane practice of Nightfall weaponsmiths and magii. The weapon is extraordinarly durable and strong and almost unbreakable. Its weakness is raw iron - and should someone devise a weapon or item that uses that, the weapon will lose its durability and strength, and become breakable.

Flaws

Time Limited, Three Spirits, Totally Destroyable:

Keiko can summon up to three spirits from her tattoos at a time, but one copy of each tattoo.

Each spirit can be dismissed at will or last up to 1 hour. They can also be destroyed by actions that would breach their toughness rating and inflicting sufficient damage to kill it ie - piercing the Dragon with a high enough calibre weapon and shooting it in the head will kill it. Stabbing the spider with a sharp enough weapon to puncture its hide and stab its vital organs will destroy it.

A creature, including a destroyed creature can be resummoned almost immediately, though it will have the wounds previously inflicted. Resummoning a severely injured or destroyed creature is most certainly not in Keiko's best interests.

The amount of time it takes to recover from injuries depends on the injuries incurred. A few hours for minor injuries to a couple of days for major injuries.

They Ain't Instant:

There is a delay of 3 and 4 seconds between activating the tattooes and the spirit animal appearing.

It Burns Precious:

When a spirit animal is called, the tattoo burns and stings, making it hard to focus and fight.

I See Double:

When using the tracking / surveillance abilities of the spirits, Keiko experiences "double vision" seeing her surroundings and what the spirit is seeing.

Destruction Harms The Bearer:

General injuries to the summoned spirit animals don't harm Keiko however, when a creature is destroyed she suffers injuries as if she were attacked by the spirit. Scratches, bites, poisoning, mauling etc. The degree of damage inflicted varies according to the creature destroyed. The damage is cumulative and whilst Keiko can't be killed from the injuries, it can certainly take her out of the fight.

Where's That Magic?:

The tattooes ability to detect magic is limited to just that - the knowledge that magic is in use, somewhere within a few metres of Keiko. It doesn't tell her who is using it or what they are doing.

Berserker:

Keiko has been known to become 'berserk' under extremely trying situations which is both a help and a hindrance. When 'berserk', Keiko can still use her tattoo's though her judgement is impaired and her direction of their action and her own actions will be questionable. She may not stop fighting even when it makes sense to; she may unintentionally attack allies; you know, the normal type berserker responses. Afterwards, she will experience mental and emotional duress which may have long lasting effects.

Hunted by the Nightfall:

Keiko was taken, marked and used. Then she escaped. They want her back and will do just about anything to retrieve her when they find her.

The Corruption Bleeds Through:

At least one of Keiko's bound spirits is demonic and most have some corruption. When summoned, the corruption of the spirit affects Keiko interacting with the effects of Limbo and the dark dimension energy she's absorbed, hastening her own corruption.

Swiss Cheese Soul:

Keiko is missing a small part of her soul, it was consumed by a friend. The effects of that on the two of them? They're waiting for the other shoe to drop. For her, something moved in to fill that space that was left in her seven years stuck in Limbo making her slightly demonic in nature. She

• is unable to empathise with others, often appearing distant and unapproachable to those unfamiliar with her;
• Refuses to show or admit weakness
• Has a mild allergy to symbols of faith. These can be anything that people have sufficient believe in and include, unfortunately, Plokta's.

Memory Infused Collar:

Keiko has been collared by a Splinter Lord. It marks her as theirs. Due to Limbo's effects the collar has fused to her body, becoming part of it and the stolen memory of a mother's love has been absorbed into the material. The collar and absorbed memory causes Keiko become unnaturally fiercely loyal and protective.

There is a twin to this collar, bonded when Keiko was used a conduit to Sifror. There is a sympathetic connection between the two, the full extent of which is not yet known. At the very least, the collars shock the wearers if their twin wearer is in mortal danger.

Elena:

Her daughter, born in Limbo to Piotr Rasputin. There are those who would use Elena against her mother. It will be effective but might not provide the results expected.

Grey Scale Morals:

It's not black and white for Keiko. There are things you do because you have to. You might not like it but when it comes to protecting yourself and those close to you, it doesn't matter. Many don't get though.
