Background

British born Jemma Simmons was an extremely gifted child, obtaining her first pHD at the age of 16 which caught the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D. After being recruited to the Academy of Science and Technology, Simmons studied her second pHD in biochemistry which she completed in 1 year, at the age of 17. To date, this accomplishment makes Simmons one of the youngest graduates of the academy.

On graduating, Jemma was posted to a Sci-Ops facility to conduct research but she wanted more and finally accepted a field posting in New York. Several years later, it went horribly wrong.

Investigating rumours of a bioweapon operated by AIM, Jemma joined an operation during which she was infected by it. The effects should have been terminal. They weren't. Another SHIELD agent acted quickly to turn Jemma into a Deathlok - a psyborg using the centipede serum. There was just enough for her.

The transformation didn't go smoothly and it's been a long road back but Agent/Doctor Jemma Simmons, Deathlok'd, is back on the job.

Powers

Cyborg Physiology

• Strength (able to lift 30 tons), Speed (just above finest peak human athlete), Stamina (can sustain peak capacity for 24 hours before fatiguing) and Durability (just above peak human).

Enhanced Processing

If they were going to enhance Jemma, might as well give that brilliant mind a boost. Neural implants increase Jemma's natural ability to process information at nearly twice the speed of her normal rate. Included in this is the ability for someone to connect to her mind and share the information and data processing she is conducting.

Scanning Tech

The Deathlok implants allow Jemma to scan in the infra red and X-Ray spectrums within her line of sight.

Skills

S.H.I.E.L.D Field Training

Simmons is cleared for field work and is rated PROFICIENT in small fire arms (specifically pistols). She has also received the self defence training all S.H.I.E.L.D agents receive.

The Power Is In The Research

Jemma believes that research is the key so that she can be the best she can be. She reads case files in her free time and researches for the sheer love of learning. As a result, Jemma is far more than just a "science geek" and can draw on the lessons learned from other cases as well as developing solutions to problems.

Life Sciences

Simmons holds a number of degrees (including phDs) and is as an expert in Biochemistry, Life Sciences and Xenobiology. Where S.H.I.E.L.D allows access, Simmons also researches synthetic and extraterrestrial biology.

Medical

Through her education and experience, Jemma has a clear working knowledge of human anatomy and biology. She uses this knowledge to provide medical work-ups, first-aid for her team when in the field as well as to develop awesome and interesting solutions to other medical problems.

Genius Intellect

Simmons is a genius. She has quite a high IQ and is well versed in the sciences. While she may be socially awkward at times, she is incredibly smart.

Inner Strength

Despite the situation that Simmons might find herself in, she draws on her inner strength to survive. She is able to withstand incredible circumstances due to believing in herself as well as believing in others.

Fast Thinker

Jemma approaches problem solving from many angles and doesn't always think in a straight line. This means she is able to solve complex science problems innovatively and in a fraction of the time it might take others.

Advantages

SHIELD Agent

Jemma is an active member of SHIELD and has access to the latest SHIELD technology and information, required by her assignment.

Flaws

No Pinocchio

S.H.I.E.L.D agents are trained to keep secrets as part of their time at the Academy, which is what makes Jemma an anomaly. Without preparation, she is a dreadful liar and, if put on the spot, the situation never turns out well for her.

Really Just a Geek

Although Jemma is socially aware, she loves to talk about Science and Technology which, in certain situations can be just awkward and in others downright dangerous. Often, she'll find herself blathering on about sci-tech before she even thinks, putting herself in all sorts of interesting situations.

Death Lok'd

The Death Lok protocol saved her life but it's not without its drawbacks. Jemma is capable of overusing the physical advantages to her detriment (i.e Too strong for her own good) or, perhaps worse, the implants and protocols cause her to behave erratically.

Not Really A Field Agent

Despite Jemma's training and experience she is still, at heart, a Scientist. She may find herself in the Field more often but an action hero, she just isn't.

Forgiveness Is A Virtue

Jemma has a merciful and forgiving nature which means that she generally leans towards finding a non-violent ways to resolve issues. This is not always the best way to approach certain problems.

Wired For Sound

Jemma has implants that allow her to connect to networks and other computers, including other cyborgs with the suitable technology. This makes her hackable - it might be incredibly difficult, but that's a mark in the Threat column of the Threat and Risk Assessment.
