Background

• Kidnapped by Belasco, ruler of Limbo and is infected with dark power and raised as his apprentice from ages 7 to 14.
• Developed mutant ability to teleport and flees Limbo.
• Taken in by the Xavier School (2014), she learns about the world's history and focuses on developing her mutant ability to teleport.
• After graduation (c/o 2018), she is found by Belasco again and he drags her back to Limbo. While she manages to escape him again, she's unable to teleport out of Limbo.
• Illyana is found by an old woman, another former apprentice trapped in Limbo and brings Illyana to a garden she s managed to make grow.
• The old woman teaches her white magic before Belasco kills the older woman and traps Illyana in the garden to watch everything there wither and die.
• Drawing on the old woman's magic left in the garden, after trying and failing, she finally manages to create a pure expression of her power, the Soul Staff, shattering Belasco's magical bindings.
• Confronting her former Master Illyana wins and banishes him, gaining control of Limbo.
• After getting Limbo in order, Illyana goes back to earth to seek out those that can teach her the magics beyond Belasco's knowledge and trying to keep the corruption from taking over her soul. It's seven years later.

Powers

Darkchilde
Illyana's soul is fused with the essence of the Elder Gods making in many ways, a demon. She clings to her human form, but by choice or sometimes under duress her demonic nature can be expressed physically. In her Darkchilde form, Illyana has the perks of being stronger, faster and tougher than normal, edging just into the beyond-human levels. As a downside, this makes the connection to her darker impulses that much stronger.

Demonic Psi-shields
As a result of her demonic side, Illyana's mind is virtually impossible to read or control by even the most formidable of telepaths.

Soul Staff
The purest expression of her power as a sorcerer and a tangible extension of her soul, the Soul Staff has the power to disrupt any magical spell or effect it comes into physical contact with. This also makes it incredibly lethal to beings of a magical nature and exceptionally dangerous to magic users when wielded as a weapon. Being the physical manifestation of her power, it also serves to focus and augment Illyana's already considerable magical might.

Stepping Disks
Illyana's only actual mutant power is the ability to summon and control the Stepping Disks of Limbo. This is not the power of teleportation itself, though the effects almost the same. Illyana can open multiple disks, as large as thirty feet in diameter though they need to be within a hundred feet of her. Illyana is able to open a portal from Limbo to anywhere she has a clear picture of in her head, including other dimensions. Her portals do not move through time. Through years of practice Illyana has developed a number of Portal Tricks, such as moving an open portal through solid object to 'core' out the portal area, to redirect attacks by having a bullet or fist go through one portal and come out another, or open a portal at her feet and moving it upwards to appear as though she is levitating while her feet are standing on the ground in Limbo.

Sorcery
As Sorceress Supreme of Limbo, there is almost nothing that is beyond Illyana's grasp magically speaking. If she is in Limbo. If she's willing to pay the price. Most of Illyana's repertoire of spells are black magic, and the more power powerful they are the greater the stain upon her already darkened soul. She can sense both magical and demonic energies around her. The larger the disturbance, the farther away she can sense them. Illyana's magical abilities outside of Limbo are more limited, as she cannot draw from the realm to augment her power and so drain her personally but she is still considered a top-tier mage on Earth. These are detailed as separate effects.

Astral Projection
With concentration, Illyana can project her consciousness from her body. Her astral form is invisible and can move at incredible speeds, traversing hundreds of miles in moments. It also ignores physical barriers and gravity and is immune to damage except by powerful spells or powerful psychics that can see her astral form.

Eldritch Bolts
Illyana can throw pure magical force at someone with enough power to throw a normal person backwards and knock them unconscious.

Eldritch Shields
With concentration, Illyana can summon shields around her made of magical energy to block magical attacks. She can't attack and maintain these shields at the same time. They are less effective against physical trauma and will start to crack under repeated impact and will shatter under small arms fire.

Wards
These are shields against magic that can be anchored to a physical place and can keep magical beings from passing through them or deflect magical attacks. They are tied directly to Illyana, and anything that affects them is reflected back on her. They can only take as much damage as Illyana has the power to provide.

Healing
With concentration Illyana can perform minor healing equivalent to a week or so of downtime over the space of a few minutes. Enough to close minor wounds without scarring or get rid of superficial bruising.

Illusions
Not true illusions, they are as much emotional as visual. Illyana cannot create independent illusions and is instead able to magically enhance things around her. Like adding filters to a photograph, she can do things such as adding cries or screams to the moan of the wind or make the stuffed animals in her bedroom go from cuddly to creepy. These take a minimal amount of effort on Illyana's part and can be broken if someone invests a significant effort of will into resisting them.

FX
Minor items that are meant really to be used to add magical flavor include the ability to conjure glyphs and circles, to levitate while casting and instantly change her outfit from one thing to another.

Skills

• Occult- Growing up in a demonic dimension spending years studying magic and demon lore means that Illyana is something of an expert on the subject.
• Combat- In Limbo, the weak get eaten. Illyana learned to kill using both unarmed fighting and bladed instruments as a child. At Xavier's she learned less lethal techniques. Illyana is a vicious fighter who isn't afraid to kill if that's what will get the job done.
• Russian- Born in Russia, Illyana still speaks her mother tongue fluently.
• Survival- Illyana can make a fire, hunt, clean and cook game and fashion rudimentary clothing from the hides in some of the most desolate landscapes imaginable. It might not be pretty, but she'll survive.
• Leadership- As the Darkchilde she commands the hordes of Limbo, and that takes a pretty firm hand. She has the confidence and chutzpah to lead, though her manner is more suited to times of crises than teamwork situations.

Advantages

• Limbo- Some people dream of having their own private pocket dimension. Illyana actually has one. Of course, Limbo is a reflection of its owner, due to Belasco's meddling she is more demon than human and that is reflected in the landscape and its inhabitants. Time not only runs differently than on Earth, it's subjective. One person could be in one room and an hour goes by while weeks go by for someone just a room away. As Limbo's ruler, Illyana can control this to some degree while she's present. Limbo is also always in flux, with little persisting outside of Illyana's Citadel. While Illyana can mold the immediate area around her to her whim, without her attention it will fall back into chaos.
• Demon Hordes- Crunch all you want, she's got more. Illyana controls the vast demon armies of Limbo. While not especially smart, they are strong and many have a fanatical sort of devotion to Illyana in her role as Darkchilde. Of course, they're demons which means they don't have souls and they've got their own agenda. While Illyana can summon them to Earth, she usually only does a few at a time, so she can keep an eye on them. Summoning large numbers somewhere that her magic is so much weaker is just asking for trouble. Demons tend to max-min, so they tend to be strong and tough, or fast and agile, or have some special ability such as flight or the ability to breathe fire. The strongest demons could lift a small car and resist small arms fire while the most agile could keep pace with a peak human.
• Magical Items- Illyana has a number of enchanted items she inherited from Belasco, such as her Scrying Crystal, her spellbooks and more. For the most part, they only work in Limbo.
• Xavier's School- As a graduate of Xavier's, Illyana can potentially call upon other former students of the school for help.

Flaws

• Darksoul- Belasco did something terrible to Illyana when she was a child. He grafted the essence of the Elder Gods to her, which feeds on every dark deed she does to slowly taint her soul. Her nature, her instincts, her thoughts and desires and hungers are all demonic. But she still has a soul. Still has a conscience. And so far, her will has managed to keep her nature in check. That demonic taint also means consecrated ground, holy places etc. all make her uncomfortable to varying degrees.
• Demonic Appearance- In her Darkchilde aspect, Illyana looks decidedly demonic. Digitigrade legs, cloven hooves, horns, fangs and tail. It is not a form that inspires trust in most.
• Limbo Dependence- Illyana's powers are dependent on Limbo. The Stepping Disks open to and from Limbo, but there's no getting around it being the 'hub' for Illyana's teleportation. Limbo is also where she draws the power for almost all of her magical spells, so if she isn't there then she has to draw on her own finite supply.
• Survivor- Beaten, tortured, forced to do things that no one, especially as young as she was, should have to do, Illyana learned to do whatever it takes to survive and that leaves its mark on a person. Doctors might diagnose it as PTSD but since she s not entirely human anymore, does that even apply?
